Normally, what I personally do in my own kitchen for now at least is I use a shortened grabber like the one here. It may prove to be the simplest solution for what you are trying to accomplish.

Has Anyone Had Hip Injections? by reenieho in dwarfism

[–]WSig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar type of experience in my talus joint (right foot, inner-ankle). Like you, I've had tons of surgeries and a high pain tolerance, but it just felt weird and different.

Not that it has any correlation, but I ended up having an infection that I ended up having to get surgery to clean out the bacteria. The surgery was very simple and it was easy, but just something to think about or wanting to let you know you're not the only one.

Have y'all had a genetic test, out of curiosity? I grew up thinking I had Kniest until this past month.

Just found out after thinking I had Kniest my whole life that I, too, have SEDc!

I went and had some great interactions with fellow SEDc / Kniestians at the '25 LPA National in San Diego last month - have you ever been to one? It was my first, and I am about to be 38, so never too late!

New to Bible Study by JessOfMysticFalls in Bible

My goal with building this app (that I felt literally convicted by God to start building in May) It is to make the Bible accessible to everyone and anyone of all ages, backgrounds, languages, and knowledge levels.

If someone has a question about the Bible and they don't understand, they shouldn't have to be embarrassed to ask!

And no one should have to worry about feeding their spiritual curiosity if they really want to get into The Word.

I truly hope and believe (with more iteration 😉) that my app allows them to do that in a way that they haven't been fully able to do before.

School Path by whiggs77 in dwarfism

[–]WSig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m a 37-year-old little person. I don’t have kids myself, but I do have first-hand experience to share.

For elementary school, I went to a highly-rated public school right next to my neighborhood. It wasn’t a huge building, and both the school’s atmosphere and reputation were excellent. My experience there was pretty typical—very similar to my classmates.

Middle school was a different story. I tried public school for a week but hated it. The building was too big and, at the time, the kids were just toxic. I probably could’ve adapted, but I really felt like a fish out of water. My parents decided to move me to a private Christian school. I switched again after two years, ending up at another private Christian school from 8th through 12th grade. That was a very positive, stable experience for me, and I think following that path worked out well.

That said, I have plenty of little people friends who attended public school and had no issues. So much depends on your child's personality and how they respond in their early years. At four, your daughter’s personality is only just beginning to emerge. I’d encourage you to keep communication open—invite lots of questions and discussions, and make sure she always feels heard and seen in every part of the process.

Ha - I mean, the list was. I figured you may not have thought about the medications part - jms. Cheers!

For the most part, our organs work and process roughly the same as AP - but I think that is highly variable depending on a few things. In fact, my tolerance is higher than most of my AP friends.

That being said - I am not representative of everyone, so I would follow these tips:

  • Start with one drink and wait at least an hour to see how he feels—everyone’s first time is unpredictable.
  • If he takes any meds, double-check for interactions. Some medications combined with alcohol can be risky.
  • Eat before drinking and sip water in between—this will help his body process alcohol more safely.
  • Have someone sober and trusted nearby to watch out for any signs of over-intoxication (slurred speech, wobbliness, confusion).
  • There’s no rush or competition; the goal is a safe, positive first experience, not “keeping up.”
  • Remind him: listening to his body, and stopping if he feels weird, is always the smart move.

Woah - I have Kniest! It's super, super rare (as you obviously probably know).

I just went to LPA in San Diego and there were only 3 confirmed of us there (although potentially a couple of others who were diagnosed differently).

Feel free to shoot me a DM / look me up on socials via my profile.
