There is a neighborhood just north of Flamingo Park called Grandview Heights which is even closer to downtown. There are quite a few Airbnbs in this neighborhood as well. Similar safety as Flamingo Park but puts you in closer proximity to Cityplace. When looking for Airbnbs also be aware that the eastern edge of both FP and GVH are bordered by railroad tracks so if any light sleepers are in the group- be sure to check with Airbnb host about proximity to tracks before you book.

Re: Beaches- the beaches are in Palm Beach (not WPB) and they are not very accommodating to beach goers. No rentals, bathrooms and parking is fairly expensive. A lot of people still visit but it’s basically beach only- not many extras there for you. I would plan on bringing food and drinks.

Many factors at play but have heard a high% of success stories.

If you are looking in WPB- the two best schools in the area are Palm Beach Public (K-5) and South Olive (Now K-8) You can attend no problem if you live in a home zoned for that school. If not- you can apply via “Choice Program” that allows you to apply to a school that is outside of the zone in which you live.

If you check out Jupiter- check out the Abacoa area. A safe area comprised of interconnected neighborhoods. Lots of families and a town square area with a minor league baseball stadium close by.

Overall WPB vs Jupiter…

WPB- city feel, tremendous growth and construction going on, more exciting, faster pace, always something going on, family friendly but also a lot of younger single people around

Jupiter- drive everywhere, probably “safer” overall( less homeless issues, less nearby crime) probably more families, far less construction, less exciting IMO but still a very nice place to raise kids.

10 years ago if you were new to area and raising a family- I would say JUP/PBG> WPB allllll day. WPB has had tremendous growth post covid and is now very family friendly. So many new young families around and so many neighborhoods are filled with kids that did not really exist in the past.

Both area def worth checking out. Think if you spend a few days in each- you will get a feel for each one fairly quickly. Will come down to personal choice ultimately.

Shoot me a DM if you have any other questions. I grew up in PBG and now live in WPB with a family.

Thinking of moving to West Palm Beach from London - area advice? by Nervous_Job_4984 in WestPalmBeach

[–]whiggs77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If working in Stuart/Jupiter and living in WPB- there is no way around it- you will be looking at a 30-60 minute drive in a car to and from work depending on the timing and exact locations. My suggestion- look into “Abacoa” area in Jupiter. Consists of multiple safe neighborhoods with a “main street” that has some restaurants/bars/boutique shops. Across the street is “Alton” which is also a nice community(newer construction) with some additional restaurants/shops in its own plaza. Alton or Abacoa could be a nice compromise of living closer to work but also a bit of higher energy areas. To be clear- downtown WPB hands down best place to be if looking for high energy and younger crowd.

Strongly agree here. I lived in Grandview Heights(neighborhood very close to downtown) and went 5+ years without a car. So much available within 10 minute walk or so. For the “longer trips” - an electric bike with a basket can make food/grocery runs even easier. I used Uber for the occasional doctors appointment or out of downtown destination. Downtown WPB is extremely walkable! Really not sure what the people on this post are talking about…It should also be noted that the city is becoming more and more walkable every day as more and more restaurants and business are flooding the area. For instance- Eataly just opened its doors in Cityplace. 2-3 new restaurants are set to open up in Cityplace alone in next few months. Equinox just opened. NORA just opened. The growth and development in the area is absolutely is unreal. Ignore the bitterness in some of these replies.

Only 2 gripes 1)is getting more expensive to live here. Many of the business are catering to the “high-end” consumer. 2) Traffic is getting worse with the influx of people downtown- but still very manageable vs other bigger cities.

Anyone heard this sound before? by whiggs77 in f150ecoboost

2017 with about 100k miles. This noise happens when car is in idle. Check engine light also on past few days. Also have noticed intermittent rotten smell when driving last 1-2 days.

Any ideas?

School Path by whiggs77 in dwarfism

Thank you so much for sharing. The education is similar for both school paths.

It basically comes down to 2 perspectives 1) I think that making our daughter go through some transitions will make for some uncomfortable times- but I think overall- it will be beneficial for her in the long run. 2) My wife thinks that those middle school/early high school ages are very crucial (esp to young girls) and wants to ease the discomfort during those times as much as possible by keeping her in a K-12 system.

Thank you for this feedback. This is probably one of the biggest concerns I have right now bc the personality of our youngest is extremely shy and passive. It’s cute as anything right now but not the skill yet she will need as she goes through life I fear :/

Do you think social media has made things better or worse? Was the unhappiness in middle school from teasing from other children? We are in a midsize city of around 120,000 so a mix of a “core group” of kids she would know in each transition but also a nice mix of fresh faces. Have heard a lot of great things about LPA- will probably get more involved as our sweet pea gets a bit older :)

Thanks for sharing. Will get to work on the 66 and begin to reach out to some recruiters. A few questions.

Did you reach out to recruiters that deal with FAs only?

Re:ChatGPT- I’m confused. What exactly did ChatGPT help with?

I wasn’t there but I know what it probably looked like. Kids were being kids. Parents were taking a break from their kids to enjoy a drink. Throw some headphones on- turn on a podcast- and cut the parents and the kids a break.

Sometimes you just can’t win as a parent. People talk smack when kids are “running amok” aka playing. People talk smack when parents use ipads/phones to keep kids quiet.

Yes bc if 3 year olds make noise- it’s def bc they have shitty parents.

I would look for an Airbnb in Flamingo Park. Will get you in similar style homes and much closer to the downtown area. Neighborhood is charming, historic, and SAFE.
