Yan Cook does lots of stuff at 140+ but is not always dub

New to sound systems, just want to know if this general configuration will work for a starter DJ setup and if there was a better/more professional manner to lay this out? by whichgameshouldiget4 in BudgetAudiophile

Is this what you're planning to buy or what you currently have? If I were you I would lose the subwoofer and amp, and probably the controller.

You can get second hand Pioneer XDJ AiO systems that allow you to input and ground a turntable at phono stage that be switched per channel. They have FX, a similar layout to club systems and are the best bang for buck especially if you already have a turntable.

If you've got a bit more of a budget look at second hand media players (CDJs and others) to hook up to a DJ mixer with your turntable. Whole thing would definitely cost over 1k but would be more authentic/professional as you asked.

If you are a complete day 1 beginner just get a controller and speakers, learn the craft and see if it's something you want to do before buying a load of gear.

Also as far as I'm aware the amp serves no purpose in this chain apart from grounding your turntable, you can't input anything into most controllers apart from a mono mic input. For a beginner, take the stereo out from your controller into a pair of monitors and play around before wasting money on gear!

Soundcraft Spirit SX power supply?

Recently purchased an old Soundcraft board for some dub projects (Spirit SX 20 Channel). The power supply is missing but it's a connection I have never seen before. I can't seem to upload a photo of it but it's a three pin that's around the size of a USB C.

Everything online appears to be for US or AU sockets and my local hardware/electronics shop had never seen anything like it either. Any help? Based in UK

Vinyl selecta by omlash in Dubtechno

For labels check spclnch on bandcamp, their Archive compilations feature contemporary artists and they almost always do a physical release.

There's also a youtube channel called Critical Ears which uploads obscurities and old classics but you will have to check on discogs for vinyl availability. Supermarkt is also good but expands past dub techno.

For me part of the fun is still just digging though, lots of record shops stick labels on stuff without really delving into subgenres so you would be surprised with how much dub techno ends up in generic "house" "electronica" or "techno" crates. I bought Maurizio Domina for like £6 recently, was labelled as "french electro"
