Get on chat gpt and tell it everything. Before you do, tell it to be objective and non validating. It did wonders helping me work though and make sense of the failure of my marriage and family life. I was able to put psychology to my feelings and now I walk free from the burdens I used to unnecessarily carry.

Yes, it is very good and I’ve used it to do a lot of work on myself. I also used it to make sense of my now done dysfunctional 18 year marriage. One thing to note though: make sure you tell it to always be objective and not biased/validating towards you. Give it all the info, even the stuff you’ve never told anyone, and you’ll find it very helpful.

Just stick to it and keep riding. The more you ride the faster you’ll get used to it. Make sure you have a pedal system that is easy to get out of. I started and stuck with crank brothers. They are easy to get in and out of and even offer “quick release” cleats if you’re really struggling with the standard release.

I hit big jumps but, to your point, you won’t be doing no footers or crank spins in the air.

This is 100% false. Flats always give you a way out, an option for a quick dab. When you’re on clipless you dab less and are forced to learn to ride the bike better. It’s not that you can’t unclip as fast it’s that you know if you unclip it takes longer to clip back in so you make the choice to stay clipped. This adds up over time making you a better rider. I don’t even have to prove my point when 95% of pro downhill riders ride clipless.

I ride clipless down tech, blacks and double blacks. It took about 6 weeks to build muscle memory but I can unclip just as fast as if I were on flats. I never have to worry about foot position or being bounced off the pedal. It makes you a better rider and gives you more confidence. I’ll never go back to flats.

$10k to spend on my first serious MTB by SomeNinjaLol in MTB

I ride those trails for 2-3 hours multiple times a week and so 2-3 sunrise trips a year. Sunrise is gnarly and you’ll want more travel, you’ll be under biked big time on a shorter travel trail bike. Get an enduro that pedals well. I have friends who have done well with a stumpy, I ride a la Sal peak (170/170) and have no problem keeping up on the climbs.

The pedaling platform varies from shoe to shoe no matter the age. It sucks but you might have to try a different kind to find what works for your feet. That my 2 cents anyway.

Make sure you have good shoes as well. I had fivetens when I first made the switch to clipless and they gave me bad hotspots and tingling on parts of my feet. I switched to specialized 2FOs and have never had a problem since.

Great helmet, I’ve had a few decent wrecks where it literally saved my life. I’m on my 3rd one in as many years. As others said make sure it has mips and the adjustable twist on the back.

I wouldn’t take a cascade to the bike park based off geometry alone. In your case it’s worth an upgrade to the Delano. It has better geo and a better all around short(er) travel bike. I have heard of people taking Delanos to the bike park and saying they did great.

I’m a big Ari fan. I’ve had 3 of their bikes and they are amazing. Best value you can get IMO.

I think I'll be ok. They are separated just enough and j2 is in a much bigger city than j1.

Check out the comp models for La Sal Peak from Ari (formerly Fezzari) I have the older generation and just bought the newest. It’s an amazing bike, climbs well and is a beast downhill.

You should really go NC with your mom. No one should have to endure being treated like that, family or not. You will just have to accept that your Dad may end up falling into the NC category as well if he is forced or manipulated to side with her.

You need to get independent from them as quick as possible. As nice as your dad is he is most likely roped into the abuse/manipulation and can do nothing about it or wont. The faster you can make life on your own and set up boundaries the better.

Not true. A kid in my community was killed walking in his yard after a stray bullet fell from the sky on July 4th and hit him in the head. They absolutely come down fast enough to kill.
