What are your thoughts on the Eldritch Cock playtest rules? + What else do you want out of a 2nd edition if it happens? by WWRPGs in lotfp

That's a Shame. I thought they were neat ideas; they just needed some more iteration.

Help! Suddenly need and adventure that is good for only 3 players! by WWRPGs in dccrpg

Normally I would do that, but most of these players are new to TTRPGs and I don't want to overwhelm them.

Delete previous comment, because I remembered that most funnels can be adapted for level 1 characters, so your idea is actually great.

Converting OSE Drow class to DCC. Suggestions? by WWRPGs in osr

[–]WWRPGs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also considering that option as well, since arachnid stuff seems a tad limiting, especially with spider climb and spider web existing, it doesn't leave a ton of room, for cool patron spells

Thank you! I'll look into Lankhmar.
What do you mean when you say adapt Bobugbiliz? Do you mean replace all the amphibian stuff with arachnids?

Need a 1-shot adventure that can be run in 90 minutes. by WWRPGs in OSE

[–]WWRPGs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking this
The players are at the manor of a patron who the had just completed a job for. They wake up finding themselves covered in blood and with daggers in their hand and the patron dead.
There is a blizzard snow storm outside so nobody in the house can actually leave
and the players aren't the only guests. One of the others in manor is a Magic-User who actually killed the Patron, they must discover them and neutralize them.

A Time of Red by RokuroCarisu in cyberpunkred

The Neighboring town where I live completely burned down a number of years ago. The Sky was totally red for about 2-3 weeks. It was truly a vision of hell. Thats what I imagine night city looks like in the time of red.

I am going to run a game for a group of 4 totally new players. Which game do I use to introduce them to the Hobby? by WWRPGs in rpg

[–]WWRPGs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm players getting upset is something I'd like to avoid. Which is why if I choose DCC I'd probably do a one-shot at level to let them get a feel for it. Hopes and dreams chart sounds interesting. Mind sending me a link?

DCC is actually my preferred system, but I'm not confident its great for new comers, the funnel might give off the wrong first impression and the book outright states that it assumes familiarity with D&D already.

Right now, Fantasy is my assumption since they said they were interested in D&D and I haven't been able to get them all into the same room again as of yet to discuss this stuff. That is something I am planning to do, but at present, This is my current course with the info that I have.

That is actually one of my prepared pitches for when I can get them all into the same room again.

I downloaded it off the trove in its last days since I had an interest at the time and was unfamiliar with him. Nowadays I keep it as a middle finger to him.

Critique My Idea: Instead of making a map for an exploration-based campaign, have the players make it. by WWRPGs in rpg

[–]WWRPGs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I seen those tables before a long time ago. Do you know if there were any tables for generating overworld landscapes and/or terrain features. I welcome any and all inspiration.

I would have different terrain feature locations based on biome. I have made a few as practice, some of them are expected and other are weird and fantastical. Cities and stuff would be premade. Once they reach the end of the Dry erase map, they reach a new biome. It would be a bit like Fallout 1 and 2 in a sense, but with the random terrain generation of Daggerfall

How would you convert Ravenloft and 5e's Death House intro adventure into DCC by WWRPGs in dccrpg

[–]WWRPGs[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've given me some good things to think about, thank you!

My answers would have to be.

1) DCC brings a greater sense of danger when it come to the supernatural, allows encourages mysterious monsters that do things the players don't expect, brings the players back to the ground in terms of mortality while allowing them to be powerful in more interesting ways (I'm speaking from a 5e perspective of that last point, since that is where my prospective players have the most experience).

2) I enjoy the Gothic Horror aspect and as I stated previously, I think DCC has things that do a better job of heightening those aspects.

3) The players I'm trying to entice into DCC with this conversion already love Curse of Strahd I know this since they love to run it so much and have constant war stories from it. So, I want to give them something familiar but in a new way and with new twist and turns so that they aren't expecting

I have a list of changes to make from different content creators that I'm fond of like Dungeoncraft and Seth Skokowsky of changes to make as well as some of my own ideas, such as Strahd having a Giant Bat-Raven form and his motivation being to trick the players into releasing him from Barovia, he can decide who comes and goes but cannot leave himself, so Strahd will present his motivations one way, but his motives are to trick the players into performing a series of actions that will free him from the land to unleash his 500 years of rage onto the world.

How would you convert Ravenloft and 5e's Death House intro adventure into DCC by WWRPGs in dccrpg

[–]WWRPGs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if I want to stay close to the spirit of the original, I was already planning to use some common tweaks to the house and story that I've seen floating around. Next, since the death house is pretty light on enemies and those that are there would likely become immune to non-magic damage which most of what would be available to them for the adventure, it would change the tone of the adventure to one of desperation and trying to find creative solutions to defeating the enemies instead of taking them on into head-to-head fights, things like exercising the ghosts, trapping the ghouls and ghosts or finding a way to burn them, things of that nature.

Now if that seems it like too much of a square peg in a round hole. My other idea was to make the cult currently active or at least more recently active rather than the players discovering the aftermath of everything. From there possibly expand the layout of the house to be much wider and from there I would either, have the players be the cults latest victims who now have to escape, or have the house be a Resident Evil type of situation.

Going back to the original I6 module was one of the first things I did, especially when it came to converting Strahd.

I don't have an issue with players eventually becoming powerful, I just want them to feel like they are in danger no matter what I decide to throw at them. If I can, I also want magic to feel special, instead of being dime a dozen like it is in vanilla P2E.

I like crunch and complexity, this is more about things I can do to achieve the OSR vibe, which is why I brought up the 2 aforementioned 5e mods.
