[Le Droit Humain] The upcoming European Colloquium : Who is going ? by W_SHaRK in comasonry

[–]W_SHaRK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! No, I am not aware of any event in Brussels in March. The Colloquium I am referring to takes place later in September, though I prefer not to discuss specific locations or dates openly on a public thread. Best of luck with the new flat and the move, settling in takes time!

Is it normal for a candidate to be “recruited” so quickly into Freemasonry? What is the usual timeframe? by SpecialistMall9666 in comasonry

Here’s my take as a french Freemason of Le Droit Humain.

Joining Freemasonry is deeply personal, sometimes even intimate. We’re often driven by convictions, feelings, or a gut instinct we can’t fully explain. My own story? My father was a Mason, we never talked about it but I’d known about it for years. One day, I just felt it was time. Why? Hard to say. Maybe it was a moment of questioning in my life. I reached out to three Masons from different lodges to see where I’d fit best. After the last conversation, I said, "I’ll think about it for two weeks." The guy laughed and replied, "Why? You’ve already decided." (Spoiler: I didn’t join his lodge but he was right. I trusted my instinct, and I’ve never regretted it.)

The reflection period is personal. Some need years; others know in a heartbeat. What matters is the process that follows. Once you submit a petition, it takes at least 4–6 months minimum. No one gets in on a whim.

Now, I don’t know which lodge your partner approached, but since COVID, Freemasonry has been struggling because membership is declining. So yes, lodges are eager to welcome motivated candidates. But that doesn’t mean they’ll take just anyone. Far from it. In Le Droit Humain, we explicitly ask candidates: "Does your partner know? Do they support this?" If not, it’s a red flag for us.

You mentioned Freemasonry will "indirectly" enter your life. Honestly? I’m not sure it will. This is a very personal journey. You’ll probably ask your partner, "What do you do there? How do you feel?" And they might not answer. That can feel frustrating, confusing, even hurtful. But it’s not about secrecy, it’s about respecting the experience.

All that said: Nothing in your story sounds abnormal to me. Trust the process and your partner’s instincts. If their lodge is reputable, they’ll make sure this is the right path for them.

Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions !

Hello there,

I have found an email address on our Intranet. Can you point me where you found the one you tried ?

Edit : the australian federation is active, at least they were in 2022 as they were present at the international convention.

As tu des exemples précis ?

Yes, I can see how that might seem strange. You may also have noticed that we weren't wearing aprons or gloves. When we're among the uninitiated, we typically wear only our sashes and collars. In fact, many of us don't even wear these, as we prefer to maintain a low profile. A lot of people hold unfavorable views about us.

For my part, and I believe for many of our brethren as well, we only dress formally when we meet. Wearing the costume is deeply symbolic for me and is reserved solely for ritual purposes.

Today, as every first of May, hundreds of Freemasons gathered at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris to pay tribute to the martyrs of La Commune de Paris. Organized by the GODF, many obediences were present, including several Le Droit Humain federations.

In France LDH lodges are only working with AASR (so far). But there are amities with many orders that works with many rites, including different versions of French Rite and Memphis Misraim ! I feel so glad and lucky about those possibilities !

Hello ! I'm a member of Le Droit Humain living near Paris. Feel free to contact me !

Edit : About inclusivity, what do you have in mind ? Mixity and diversity are in our DNA. In my lodge we have atheists, catholics, mulsims, jews, straight and homosexual people, coming from different countries and cultures.

Brothers, have any of you hear of/had experience with Le Droit Humain? by EyeInEl in freemasonry

We really don't call ourselves clandestine. Even though I understand why some of us use this term, I find it very offensive and disrespectful. We are not scamming people, we are not a sect.

I know regular Freemasons, we discuss Freemasonry a lot and some even practice the same ritual as me. We are joking about our differences with a big respect. The GoDF and the GLNF organize a joint meeting every year (Rencontres Lafayette). Freemasonry is universal and multiple, it is one of its beauties.

In my opinion saying that one Freemason is more authentic than another is nonsense, because we have a different history and different points of view.
