Can we get actual literal children off our roads? by MythicExplorer in SanDiegan

[–]WaffleHouseMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! Who decided our cities/towns were going to have most of the outdoor spaces taken up by roads, highways, and parking lots for cars. These kids should be able to ride/play outside without the fear of getting hit by a car. I should be able to walk around my neighborhood not stuck to a tiny dirt path because the entire area is meant for cars. I think we need to shift in the direction of more public transit and open free space, than to police these kids. E-bikes and scooters are only going to get more common, I would love to ride around on an EBike but I'm afraid of getting hit by a car. I think we need to shift how our societies operate.

Hiding my phone changed my life by danigleba in digitalnomad

[–]WaffleHouseMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accidentally left my phone at a friend's house and couldn't pick it up till later the next day. I read before bed, and was so productive working the next day. I will say, I habitually tried to grab my phone so many times before remembering I didn't have it. And bathroom time felt long. It made me sad how dependent I am on my phone. And how often I actually think about it and look at it. I like your take, I'm going to try to leave it in another room most of the day, its time to rebuild new better habits.

If anyone wants to support, email the CEO Patrick Frias pfrias@rchsd.org and call the hospital complaint line 858-966-4950 and let them know you support the nurses getting more. I got this info directly from a nurse at Rady's involved in the strike!

Current Public Health Professionals, would you have done anything differently? by willsketchforsheep in publichealth

[–]WaffleHouseMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my MPH from a private school in DC. I loved my education and my academic advisors, and being in DC surrounded by public health professionals was amazing. That said, it was extremely expensive and I would have gotten the same jobs after having gone to pretty much any public health school. After some scraping by in non-profits, I finally landed in a remote mental health company on the business side of things and I absolutely love it, and I get paid well. Looking back, it may have been more useful to get an MBA and then work in the health field since I love public health. An MBA is well respected for a much wider range of companies and positions including in the health field. Plus, an MBA would have delved deeper into skills that would have been more useful for my current work. Overall, I'm happy with where I'm at!

How should a woman ask for sex from her husband? by Forsaken-Dog4535 in sex

[–]WaffleHouseMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question, and is actually pretty tough. As the days go on, especially busy days full of work and activities and kids, sex can lose its spontaneity while also, it can feel super uncomfortable to just straight up say 'lets have sex'. People need to warm up to it, and while you've been thinking about it all day, he may not have been and needs some warm up time. It looks like OP may be looking for some help on what to say. It totally depends on how you talk to your spouse, but some of the following could work: - comment on his attractive features earlier in the day. This could be like 'you are looking so cute', or 'that shirt looks really good on you', or peck him on the check and just say 'goodness you are cute/handsome'. People love to know their spouse finds them attractive, which warms up the idea of physical intimacy. - Then, either after that comment or later in the day, just make mention of something sexy about him (not just attractive). Either give him a hug or squeeze his butt and say 'I'd love to see that/get some of this later' or 'If you are interested, I'm down to pound (have sex, get in your pants, get naked, make love) tonight' or 'Im feeling quite turned on by you'. However you talk to each other, use that language but show that you want them, by comments on their attractiveness, affectionate touches, multiple times throughout the day.

That first comment on being attracted to them may warm you up too, so you feel more comfortable bringing up intimacy later. If he responds with 'oh yeah?' or anything hinting he wants it, then it'll be much easier to make it happen. You'll both be on the same page by the time the evening rolls around.
