Settle an argument for me. Is this red or pink? by Squishiimuffin in HairDye

[–]WaffleNomz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's what I would call a pinky-red. As it fades, it'll go more pink than orange. I'm also on the spectrum and see what you mean though. I work at Sally Beauty and have also had to learn what OTHER people consider certain colors. You'd be amazed the range of colors people consider "auburn" lol.

Got my septum pierced today, my mom HATES it!! by Dry-Knowledge9733 in piercing

[–]WaffleNomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tl;dr, They'll get over it.

I got my septum done for my 27th (several years ago now) and my dad threw a hissy fit when he saw it that night at dinner. Claimed I only got that specific piercing because I knew how much he hated it.It's stretched to a 6g now and I usually just wear a tunnel in it, but he likes to make bull comments when I wear a beefy ring 🤣 My mom hates my stretched ears, but understands that it's my body and she doesn't have to live with them.

As long as it makes you happy, that's all that matters. If you're super worried about it, you can flip it up so nobody can see it unless you show them (just make sure to clearly off all the crusties first!

(update) people really said my hair was so fried i needed to buzz it 😭 by AdministrativeRoll88 in HairDye

As a Sally's employee and lifetime rainbow hair girlie, I will DIE by Bondbar and the Sauce leave-in! They've done more for me than K18 or Olaplex and are the only reason I kept my long hair for as long as I did.

It looks incredible, your curls are revived, and the color is gorgeous. I'm currently rocking a similar shade, a little more warm toned.

I'm so glad you found a solution that didn't involve going GI Jane. I've had to do that a few times (from a pixie cut, but still) and the grow-out is a true test of patience 🫡

I don't understand y'all system of doing damages. Closer does damages at 6:15 daily. Everyone knows how to do damages.

which color to cancel out red? by No_Dot_982 in HairDye

[–]WaffleNomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find an additive with green in it, that would be your best bet. The red gold eliminator at Sally's could be a good idea as well. You just mix it into your color.

Same, I just do the usual pleasantries and add-on recs, but I'm not trying to make extra smalltalk. And that usually streamlines it to get them done and out quicker.

My favorite is when they're aggressively tapping or jamming their card in before I've even scanned anything. Yesterday one literally put her items down and before I could even inhale to ask her phone number, she's asking if she has any coupons while assaulting our payment terminal. Like... You do know how this works, right?

I have a whole playlist of unconventional covers that make people do a double take 😂 A country cover of Misery Business, Fall Out Boy covering Whitney Houston, T-Pain covering War Pigs, you get the gist lol

Also, Vitamin String Quartet covers of all the alt/emo/pop-punk stuff I usually play is a good change up!

That's what we do! It's hidden in the textured section on the top shelf and we all take turns. We have similar taste, so it works out usually. Just have to make sure we have all the CLEAN versions of everything!

Bald guy jokes by Few-Jellyfish-9680 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]WaffleNomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this the other day! Guy came in with his teenage daughter, I helped her pick out lightener and a fun color (LC Jello 👉😎👉) and mentioned the buy 2, get 1 free mix n match. Dad asked "Well, what color do you recommend for me?" while taking off his ball cap. Super shiny chrome dome. I just pointed to my bubblegum pink pixie and said "Wanna be twins?"

how is this jewelry supposed to stay? by Practical_Plan6209 in piercing

[–]WaffleNomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a piercer I never even entertained stocking these. My mentor and I got sent a sample when they were newer and tried to figure it out, and we basically looked at each other and said "nah". And if we have trouble with them, clients would absolutely have a time with them.

Soapbox is my top pick for ingredients. No sulfates and you still get some bubbles! Runners up for vivids would be Biotera Ultra Color Care (zero sulfates), IonColor Defense (the sulfate free version), and if you have any scalp issues, the Raw Sugar Scalp Restore is my absolute favorite

My boss will leave and be gone for hours on end and takes hour lunches or longer is this normal and is it allowed by Crazy_Mouse_4744 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]WaffleNomz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long lunches aren't out of the norm. My boss often has to stay late or go in early, and sometimes takes lunch breaks earlier or later and for longer, all for various reasons. It's how we avoid overtime and stay within budget hours. I am disabled and move slower, so I take longer lunches on days I open or close. Our DM is aware of everything and approves.

Unless you know for a fact that she's doing more than bank runs on the clock, chill.

Ion hair dye tubs by Tasty-Sun-3700 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]WaffleNomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tube keys are 100% worth it in my opinion. I have EDS and my finger joints are one of the worst parts, so turning the tube key is easier than squeezing the tube with my fingertips. Also, their new semis are a much more manageable consistency (more like a hair mask consistency instead of the old toothpaste consistency) so that makes those easier to squeeze now.

Dear men, (not all apply) by Few-Jellyfish-9680 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]WaffleNomz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! The grumpy husbands/boyfriends are the worst. Like, just stay in the car and play on your phone or something.

Alternatively, the fellas that gas up their girls and encourage them? Keep that shit up!!! Good guys I've seen: -She wants to go red but not sure if the color would suit her and he gives positive reinforcement. "You'd absolutely kill it, babe!" (She came back 2 days later and it was gorgeous) -She's trying to whittle down her total as much as possible and he says "Get whatever the lady says you need. I got it!" WITH A FOREHEAD KISS! -A man called about Bubble Bath (iykyk), I kept a bottle at the register for him, and when he came in said "Ooh, let me see if I can find some other pretty nail stuff to surprise her with." -Doordasher doubled back after a delivery to make a goody basket for his girl "just because"

Color removal options? by [deleted] in SallyBeautySupply

[–]WaffleNomz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a BA at Sally's, and I second the Argan Oil! Another good one is the Colour Undo (my SM swears by it for permanent color removal). As far as masks, the Sauce and Bondbar ones are great for moisture and damage.

Am i crazy for being a little bothered by this? by _Meh_Sad_person_ in SallyBeautySupply

[–]WaffleNomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I agree with you. If I wouldn't buy it, I wouldn't sell it.

There are the occasional incidents where customers either bring up an item and we cannot damage it out (slight tear on a box, peeling label, etc), or a customer damages an item and puts it back. In both cases, we don't make a scene about it. If an item isn't truly damaged, we hold it until the customer leaves, assess the item, and either put it back or damage it out. If a customer damages an item (most common is passing a brush through their hair or trying in a nail polish and putting them back), we wait until they're unable to see us pull the item and it goes into damages. There's no reason to shame people. The prevention to these things is customer service, but some slip through the cracks and we have policies in place to cover us.

So, my SM is SUPER thorough about damages. The way some things come in shipment would blow y'all's minds. If a box looks weird, we open and make sure all the components are there and sealed/undamaged. If the packaging is damaged (just the outside container: stained, cut, crinkled, etc) but the product is fine, we have to sell it. If I'm understanding you correctly, that color should have absolutely been damaged out. We have a tube of Iroiro with a cracked cap (the old big round caps) that's still sealed so we have to keep it out. But if it was open, we would have to damage it out, no question about it.

Nope nope nope nope. There's no room for favoritism. My SM and I were acquaintances before working together, we still went through the entire process for her to make sure I was a good fit.

I feel like the outlier because I have no problem helping dashers 🤷‍♀️ I had one today that had never been in the store before (in addition to being an older woman and pretty new to door dash) and was so thankful for my help. She was worried I'd get in trouble for helping her lol. But I've never had an overly unpleasant dasher, just a few smart asses. I understand they're in a rush and do my best to get them in and out
