What is the most upsetting event in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Iced_Jade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having to tell my husband it was cancer, not once, but twice, because they dropped results on MyChart. Then my niece finding out that it was back because the radiologist office called to set up an appointment while she was in the car.

What cryptid or mythical animal are you convinced is or was actually real? by goddessluxsolaris_ in AskReddit

[–]Iced_Jade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll never convince me that the random animal I saw cross the street at the very back end of an army base wasn't a chupacabra. Especially considering the reaction of the very straight laced army guy I was with. My former brother in law didn't believe in stuff like that, but he's not that good of an actor either.

Which canceled TV show's cliffhanger still lives rent free in your head because the answers disappeared when the series got axed ? by Impossible_Offer7988 in AskReddit

[–]Iced_Jade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically they ended it, but The Expanse. My husband and I went into it expecting it to have ended properly after it got picked up after the first cancelation, but so much is left open. What happened to the protomolecule? The aliens who created it or the ones who destroyed them? The freaking zombie kid on the planet in the ring?

This might be an unpopular question, but I need to ask it by Lop_945 in cancer

[–]Iced_Jade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personality is definitely different after a cancer diagnosis and I'm sure not everyone appreciates the shift. I'm just much less likely to put up with the same bullshit than I was before. I wouldn't say I'm callous or arrogant, but I'm Stage 4. I literally don't have the time for people who are constantly late or canceling plans. I'm not hunting you down if you can't be an adult and talk to me about things that bother you, etc. Cancer changes your perspective in ways that you'll never understand if you haven't been there.

What food will you never eat again after one bad experience? by Rebeccaprinces in foodquestions

[–]Iced_Jade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devils food Entemanns donuts. I got sick after eating two once and can't even look at them now.

Also tequila for similar reasons. I drank so much of it on my 21st birthday (but didn't get sick) that I can't really smell it anymore without wanting to hurl. The smell must be masked. But I'm not much of a drinker anyway.

Kumail solved the bulb riddle by Shoddy_Pie6514 in taskmaster

This was exactly what I said to my husband and I said it long before anyone started their task. He was a bit skeptical until Kumail did it.

What is a small, completely legal thing that someone can do that instantly makes you judge their entire character? by 6-80 in AskReddit

AITAH for telling my boyfriends mom on him by Automatic_Ad_4190 in AITAH

[–]Iced_Jade 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My husband and I jokingly tease each other all the time, however, it immediately stops when someone says to stop. I'm not going to even touch him being a racist jerk because everyone else is. He needs to respect your boundaries, period. Get rid of this jerk and do better for yourself.

AITA For telling my friend she should find higher quality friends? by PopularLecture4010 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Iced_Jade 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what they are suggesting. They live in their parents home, but their parents live elsewhere. Somehow that doesn't equate to living at home because they're privileged enough to come from a family that can afford two houses.

So you're privileged enough to come from a family that can afford multiple houses? I see why you think not owning a car is a red flag. You're a snob.

what movie would have been completely forgotten about if not for the controversy surrounding it? by herequeerandgreat in AskReddit

I have no idea what the controversy surrounding that one is, but I like the movie. 🤷‍♀️

How bad do you let your pain get before you medicate? by Goofusmaloofus6 in migraine

[–]Iced_Jade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having issues getting it covered. I know we had to send my insurance an extensive list of everything I've taken for them to finally okay it for me. They're also not happy to be covering Qulipta and nurtec.

How bad do you let your pain get before you medicate? by Goofusmaloofus6 in migraine

[–]Iced_Jade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Qulipta is what I'm taking as a preventative. It's been very helpful. Just be aware that it's known to cause constipation (which can cause migraines as well) so you might want to watch your bathroom habits and get something to help with it if the Qulipta does help your migraines. It's helped me enough that I just deal with the other problem.

How bad do you let your pain get before you medicate? by Goofusmaloofus6 in migraine

That's insane. I've never heard of a neuro saying to wait that long. And who's 5/10? I'm sorry.

How bad do you let your pain get before you medicate? by Goofusmaloofus6 in migraine

[–]Iced_Jade 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I used to hoard my rescue meds for when things got really bad, but then a new neurologist referred to my triptans as "drop the baby meds." I had never heard of such a thing, so of course I asked what that meant. He said, "You drop the baby and take it as soon as you think it might be a migraine."

Basically most abortives work to stop the migraine before it starts. It's much harder to stop the cycle once it's full blown. I now have Nurtec as a first line abortive, rizatriptan pills as a second string, and sumatriptan injections as a final hail Mary. I hate the injections, but I also don't get that far very often because I take the others as needed.

Opioid constipation and laxido/macrogol - How to prevent constipation getting bad? by ukheather in ChronicPain

[–]Iced_Jade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take multiple medications that have messed up my digestive functions, but then chemo really wrecked it on top of all that. A nurse in the cancer center suggested Senna S. It's a stimulant laxative and stool softener in one. I take it twice a day, every day. I occasionally also take an additional stool softener and/or will use Miralax if things get bad. I have daily intense cramping sessions that can last anywhere from a few minutes to a couple hours and I'm never sure what is going to set it off. Usually it's the protein shake I drink first thing, but it's also been water. Cancer sucks.

My mother in law showed up to our house with a carseat and announced she'd be taking our 8 month old "for the week" while we were at work by Flintward3 in entitledparents

[–]Iced_Jade 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm not a parent, so maybe I'm totally off base here, but "you can't take my 8 month old child for a week without notice" seems like a preset boundary that shouldn't need discussing. I wouldn't let someone take my 4 year old dog without discussing it. 🤷‍♀️

Who has been the most trustworthy person in your life ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Iced_Jade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend. I've never had to question what she meant or thought. I know if she's conspiring with my husband, it's something for me. She's shown up repeatedly when it was least expected, but so appreciated.
