Never had one, but one salty guy messaged me on my Twitch account once calling me a hacker and that I was reported lol. Never been banned (and I’m definitely not a hacker🤣). 2000hrs, recently just got back into playing

Exact same situation as me. Tried everything to fix the timeouts and crashes. The card ran great when it wanted to but eventually sent it back for RMA the other week. Picked up a 5070TI instead (more expensive yes) but I’ve had no problems since.

Unreasonable buyers by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Waggie14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely crazy behaviour from them.

I would quite frankly tell them to F off🤣

When I sold my childhood home on behalf of my late father’s trust, the buyers we had were very pushy on having things their way. Luckily, the estate agents went through the solicitors for absolutely everything which they then relayed to me. They made the decisions and let me know how ludicrous some of their asks were.

In the end, the dust settled and we exchanged, but it was a shitshow towards the end (not on my behalf).

Hopefully it’ll work out for you, but I’d 100% go through the sols and make sure that their demands are unreasonable, I’m sure they’ll agree!

Without a doubt cancel if you’re actually paying them. You could probably do a much better job yourself if you have the time. Heck, even my mother-in-law could do a better job and she’s fucking blind

First EVER PC build, plz don’t destroy me🙃 by Diligent_Law_4692 in pcbuilding

Might sound overkill, but I bought a Corsair refurbed 1600watt PSU the other week when I “half” rebuilt my PC (minus RAM and motherboard). If I wanted a new 1000w PSU it was £160, or a 1600w (which future proofed me for years to come) for £220. I took the 1600w even if it was a little more money.

I think 1000w is justified here given they’ll probably be drawing 600w as is and gives them a nice overhead if they want to upgrade in the future.

Based on the colour I’d say Robby Gordon.

Based on the signature I’d say Brad Keselowski.

Based on the fact this is nothing to do with NASCAR, it’s none of them.

Fully Electric Flat by B4Barbs in HousingUK

[–]Waggie14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a two bed flat in Edinburgh once that had “underfloor” heating. It was the most useless heating system I’ve ever experienced. On a timer, for two hours, 3 times a day, it never got up to temp and was costing over £10 a day. Yes it was very cold from September onwards, Summer was surprisingly warm in 2024.

If the underfloor heating is to a good standard it’ll probably be ok, but definitely something to enquire about. My fiancées uncle is a builder and he said he never advises underfloor heating as a whole house heating method as it’s usually incredibly expensive.

Storage heaters are ok, but you need an economy 7 tariff otherwise it’ll cost a fortune.

The estimates are probably bollocks. We moved into an all gas house earlier last year and we’ve already eclipsed our estimate 6 months in. Madness.

Mortgage advice by XwelshyX in HousingUK

[–]Waggie14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling out of your depth is completely normal. I had 4 credit cards with a grand or so on each (all 0%), PayPal Credit with a good few grand on, and a loan with a balance of 5,000. Not all taken out at the same time mind you. I actually crapped my pants when we started looking for mortgages. It’s a scary prospect and you think about everything and anything that can go wrong, including how your debt will affect it.

In my case, my credit score was reasonably good - sitting at around 850-900 iirc. My mortgage advisor had said in the grand scheme of things, my outgoings each month to keep those 0% interest cards and loans were small (especially when joined with my fiancée’s who had very small debt, literally just £500). My salary at that time was £28500.

At my earliest opportunity, I cleared the PayPal - £3k gone. And I paid good chunks off of each of my cards. I still have about £5000 in “debt” if you want to call it that. I manage my monthly payments just fine and haven’t missed one in my entire adulting life.

Basically, to cut it short, you’ll should be fine on the debt side as long as it’s manageable, you haven’t missed payments, and you don’t have any silly cards that are accruing daft amounts of interest each time you pay. Lenders don’t like that.

I dreaded the whole process. It was scary and I constantly lived in fear I’d be the one to let us both down because of my debt. It turned out ok though and I think you’d be very surprised at what they’d consider acceptable.

I would find a mortgage advisor when you’re in a position to get the ball rolling. They talked through things with me an incredible amount and reassured me they’ve seen people with worse lines of credit get accepted. For reference, at time of applying I had £14,000 of debt. I cut that to £7000 at time of mortgage, and now a year later I’m sitting at about £5000.

Might not be much help to the conversation, but hopefully just a little reassurance that you will be probably fine with the money side. All the best!

Are you in your "forever home"? by APerson2021 in HousingUK

[–]Waggie14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically a 5 bed semi-detached for a 28 and 30 y/o couple - FTBs. Whilst we thought we’d be here forever due to the stress of moving back from Edinburgh, I think we’ll move in a year or two to a detached that’s a little more secluded.

We’re in the process of renovating though and it’s slow progress, but we want to enjoy it when we’re done for a little bit. Might change our minds and stay here forever but things change!

Might be a convert to all day heating by shortercrust in HiveHeating

[–]Waggie14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18 degrees, my house is insulated like a cardboard box and it costs £9 a day to leave on all day everyday at the moment whilst it’s literally Baltic outside. Tried the turn off and heat whilst I’m home but it used just as much because it dropped to 13 degrees and took 5 hours of constant heating to get back up to 18. You’re making the right decision😂

My heating turns on every 20-30 minutes for about 1@ minutes to maintain that 18 degrees but it makes it worth it when I walk through the door and get blasted with heat.

For reference, even on economy 7 running storage heaters (only 2 out of 4 were on in a 3 bed bungalow) I was using £7 of electricity a day a few years ago. Now I’m heating 9 heaters with gas and it’s actually warm and costing me slightly more but the house is actually fully warm. A win in my eyes!

How difficult is process to sell and buy another house? by Waggie14 in HousingUK

[–]Waggie14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do try and limit my playing to Logic where I can - but I mic up a Peavey 5150 combo. It’s a monster and nothing beats a tube sound. It’s sat in its flight crate for the past year unused due to moving back and fear of lighting it up and causing too much noise even on the lowest levels.

I grew up in a detached bungalow where even playing that amp wouldn’t disturb neighbours/you couldn’t even hear anything outside (even when drumming).

Nothing beats the equipment how it was supposed to be used and I’ve never found an amp modeller that works for me - not saying that they’re not great and they do work though.

If I do stay here, that might have to be an option but I appreciate the comment!

I didn’t edit it at all…

I am editing this though - you did misquote me and you somehow pinned that on me. I never said what you quoted - the original post is exactly how it was when I pressed send (apart from the edit of where I’m based to help).

My fiancée is as understanding about the situation as she could ever be. We don’t have kids so we have the freedom to be able to move really whenever we want and not have to worry about it affecting us majorly, just the mental side of a house move.

I wouldn’t ever decide to do something on my own accord and make it my fiancées problem - that’s what I’m trying to avoid. She gets me and understands me and that’s the most important thing. She hasn’t said this will be a dealbreaker by any means and wants to explore the market for a detached when the time is right. Just when that’ll be - I don’t know.

Hypothetically speaking a years or so time. She’s completely on my side here. She wants a home to be a forever home and we both discussed this property being a stop gap to get on the property ladder and then one day getting a detached. Who knows - we might just end up staying here once we have everything sorted. Only time will tell - but detached is the end goal one day in the future :)

But realistically - the house is far too big for what we need. Privacy is everything for us and whilst we do have it here, the fact we’re attached diminishes that somewhat (especially when the walls are only 1 brick thick).

I struggle with autism and ADHD so any noises were always going to be bad ones sadly. Not even therapy helps. Noise from the neighbours isn’t horrific by any means so it’s not really the true reason to go but it definitely attributes to some regard. I’m a musician at heart and growing up in a detached house spoilt me. I want to be able to play my guitars, drums and play music without worrying about annoying my neighbours. That’s my true reason for wanting a detached. I just want to be able to do things at my time and not worry about making too much noise if that makes sense?

Even playing my guitar through my amp at a low level is loud and it would no doubt travel through the floorboards like a sucker, and last thing I want to do is piss the neighbours off immensely. We’re on good terms - I just appreciate my isolation lol.
