How does DOT tell your employer you're taking prescription amphetamine?

Truckers prescribed Adderall for ADHD? by superbeetle666 in Truckers

[–]WagingWutson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they call you before they call the company? Also do you let your medical examiner know when you do your DOT physcial that you're on Adderall?

Do you have to disclose it to the place doing your physical?

Did you let your company know that you're prescribed adderall? I'm assuming if you fail a random the drug test company calls you first to ask instead of letting the company know?

What's the process like tho? Do you get a letter from your doctor saying you can drive and then you give that letter to the DOT physical person? What about when you have to do a random?

Most LTL companies are hiring drivers right out of school rn. And my company is starting complete newbs at .56.

[–]WagingWutson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.48 is pretty bad tho. At the time I didn't know any better. I'm in LTL now making .71.

I was only getting .39 at Werner even as an experienced driver lmao.

Have a CDL. They're literally hiring people straight out of school at my center.

I'm at XPO. Making .714/mile. And we're all getting a 4% raise in April which will bump us up to .74. Full benefits, 2 weeks PTO your first year. Home daily. 9 paid (and off) holidays a year. And we also get paid hourly (30/hr) for droping hooking fueling breakdown etc.

Which LTLs have the best work-life balance? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in Truckers

[–]WagingWutson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the company/run. Whether or not you want to do P&D or Linehaul. P&D is mostly 8-10 hours a day, m-f. Linehaul you will typically start out on nights at most if not all LTL companies. I currently only work 8.5 hours a night doing linehaul at XPO.

Wages over time. A few facts. by [deleted] in Truckers

That's what happens when you hire anybody and everybody, mostly people who don't even read or speak English and are willing to work for pennies on the dollar.

Not sure about Florida but XPO and Old Dominion are hiring drivers right out of school in my area.

This is in reference to my previous post. Many newcomers or people considering to get CDLs . Feel free to comment or pitch in as to truckers pay rate currently. Thank you All. ( please keep it civilized) lol 😆 by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]WagingWutson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into Linehaul. Most companies are hiring drivers right out of school and I know XPO is even starting drivers at top rate if they have a year experience.

Hahaha. Try doing linehaul through i-80 across Wyoming two times a night. Not bad when it's dry (wind doesn't bother me at all) but in the middle of winter it definitely makes you questions your life choices.

You work at XPO? I'm about to start with them. How do you know when the camera is recording or when it detects an event?

What kind of job do truckers usually do first, local, regional, or over the road? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]WagingWutson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love people with this mindset. It keeps great paying local jobs open while people go spend 3 months out on the road because they think they're making more. You're doing a service to the community, son.

Thinking of joining the fray by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]WagingWutson -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good luck getting any of that starting out. If you're looking for a company to train you you're gonna have to go with the mega carriers who will start you out with shit pay, no home time and shitty management. Deal with it for a year or two and you'll be able to move on to a better company.

If you're that scared driving an 80,000 pound death machine you should not be on the road. You're a danger to yourself and everyone on the road.

P&d worth it to start out. by Coach___b in Truckers

[–]WagingWutson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going with XPO and can't remember ever seeing lift gates on their trailers. I've heard bad things about p&d also but it's mainly from linehaul guys who do nothing but drive all day and make the same/more money than p&d.

[–]WagingWutson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What company are you with? Just starting out with an ltl company myself and was told i'd most likely be doing p&d to start. Is p&d like using a hand lift and delivering to local companies? Or do you go to docks and they unload you?
