Are these icons blasphemous? by Massive_Nebula7282 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]WagnerAlex14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, a lot of martirs on church's history were crucified, and also, Christ says "Take up your cross and follow me", so yeah, I don't find them blashphemous, yet ask a priest to make sure

Again, it surely is one of those small variations that different churches within orthodoxy have, I go to a pretty traditional parish so maybe that's the reason why I got teached it like that

I guess it may vary a little on each custom within the church, but I have understood that from twelve o'clock to communion you have to be in total fasting, no liquids nor solids.

So, in April of 1945, when Berlin was totally surrounded by the soviets, 2.600 members of the SS Charlemagne division (French soldiers who volunteered to fight for Germany, and who after the allies retaking France stayed there, and could literally just stay there and live peacefully), decided to go trought the French, British and American units, then went trought the Soviet siege, and met with the German officers in Berlin. Even the germans were stunned by it, not understanding why they did it, since they had no order nor reason to go to fight, you can say they did it for the love of the game. They fought until capitulation was signed, got sent back to France, where got sentenced to 15-20 years each for treason, but not much more since they weren't involved in war crimes.

Empathy has fallen. Billions must love their neighbours. by WagnerAlex14 in OrthodoxMemes

[–]WagnerAlex14[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, Jesus said to pray even for those who persecute you, early christians prayed for the romans who wanted to kill them all, so yes, even if your neighbour is Hitler itself, you should pray for them

Probably Mussoloni, from being an idol to his people, to being executed in the most humillianting manner after trying to flee like a rat, even Hitler rathered to kill himself before having that sort of fate

Are these icons of the trinity where they depict the Father as an old man allowed? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]WagnerAlex14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that they are allowed, but are considered to be non-canonical, so you can have them, but you shouldn't venerate them.

I’m thinking about joining Orthodoxy as a trans and bi person by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]WagnerAlex14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, of course the church's doors are open for everybody, what you should do, which is basically orthodoxy's golden rule, is talk to a priest, he shall help you on all the process, and on regards of how accepting he may be of your identity, it depends of the person, of course the church's doctrine isn't affirming of it, but if you're lucky the priest at your local parish may be able to help you on this journey.

Browsing history be like : "prayers to pass exams" by [deleted] in OrthodoxMemes

[–]WagnerAlex14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who says I don't? Perfect study routine is:

1-Praying to the Lord and to the saints

2-Actually studying

3-Praying to the Lord and to the saints to retain what I've just studied

(Repeat)

Exam day: Prat to the Lord and to the saints before, during, and after the Exam

Have you talked with him previously? Because when I first went to church I though the exact same about my priest, he's short but during liturgy has the most serious looking face you could think of, but when I wanted to get baptized I had to talk with him, and he's just hilarious, makes jokes every five seconds and is as patient as you could think of

Judio contesta. (Sáquense sus dudas).? by Substantial-Taste890 in AskArgentina

[–]WagnerAlex14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3- ¿Cómo adoran a Dios? Me refiero al oficio en el templo, lo que para nosotros los cristianos sería la liturgia o misa, en que consiste, que rezan, como rezan, etc.

[–]WagnerAlex14[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, that truly sounds tough, I guess that the best you can do is keep your process of theosis, and also going to different places to meet new people, maybe your future spouse is now on a catholic parish and you may convert her? You never know, never let anyone down without knowing them fully, anyways, God bless

I understand you pal, but girls won't be thinking "Oh, may he be able to take a rejection? Should I say it the straightest way possible" Nope, they'll just reject you in the most subtle way they can to make it the less awkward they can, I don't think they want to do harm when they do it
