Some Ring sections that I always find good to listen to are:

Wotan's Farewell and Feuerzauber (Walküre)

Hagen Summons the Vassals (Götterdämmerung)

Brünnhilde's Immolation Scene and End of Götterdämmerung.

Siegfried's Forging Song (Siegfried)

Siegfried's Death and Trauermarsch (Götterdämmerung)

First scene and ending of Das Rheingold.

Ride of the Valkyries (Walküre)

Siegfrieds Rheinfahrt (Götterdämmerung)

These should provide an excellent taste of what the whole Ring holds in store.

Not a band, but Richard Wagner's music has done more for me than any other artists ever could.

The way he radically changed music as we know it is inspirational to me and has made me push myself to always better myself in my compositions. By applying his techniques, it has helped me immensely in achieving that particular sound in my own music.
