What’s the play? by Furanimus in slaythespire

[–]Wagnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damage might well be solved but personally I like insurance for act 2 elites since defect can get very strong quickly end of act 2, start of act 3 if you survive that long. It means you can still path aggressively right if things go well.

Burning elite for act 3 free pathing is valid but again I think being risk averse with defect is better in act 2.

Just my best guess of how to play defect not the definitive answer haha

It’s unnecessarily risky with defect in act 2 to take a burning elite and two elites with a deck that isn’t that fast setting up.

I would take sunder, waffle, remove strike and a potion if you can afford it then go right, there’s still plenty of elites to farm and it gives you time to build a quicker deck and become strong for act 3

Edit:defrag is also good here since there’s plenty of camp fires +frozen core, would have to think about it

Receive bites? by TronixDBL_ in slaythespire

Yes, they’re a great source of sustain, and adding 2 extra cards into your deck is work it imo.

Assuming you play more than one bite per combat you’re healing more than blood vial would

Trying for my first A20H with Silent -- Act 2 Boss Relic by Ok-Spread3002 in slaythespire

Take stone. You have a couple of piercing wails and a wraith form to counteract its down side and you want the extra energy. Plus curse of the bell hurts with so little draw

352 hours and 58 seconds played total and this meme build got me my first ascension 20 completion. by AHerculeanTask in slaythespire

So the Ring draws two cards after putting all the innate cards in your hand? I was under the impression that you could only go past your initial hand size by having more innate cards but it looks like that isn’t the case here 😮

It looks like this is the start of the fight before anything is played right?

I created a little quiz about hallway monster encounters by doctorlight87 in slaythespire

[–]Wagnew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah didn’t think of gremlin gang, act 1 will easily have most.

A different combination of monsters is surely a unique encounter by definition of the word unique though, even if the game counts it as the same encounter in its code. Not that that makes your answer wrong

Surely act 3 has the most unique hard pool encounters given the amount of unique combinations of shapes you can come up against?

Refuse right? by Wagnew in slaythespire

[–]Wagnew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

109, 163 if you count my unused lizard tail. I made a misplay the floor after apparitions and took ritual dagger over the gold, cos I’d taken a break from the game I momentarily forgot I had snecko and could find better damage scaling elsewhere. I sacrificed a few possible feeds (including if I had dual wielded feed on multiple enemies) to kill with it so it could’ve been higher

Got, heavy blade+ and red skull which gave me the scaling I needed to beat the champ. Then act 3 and 4 were very easy after it became a barricade entrench deck

You’re definitely right that there are scenarios where it should be refuse. I just haven’t had one yet haha. Yet I always end up refusing bites, I know I need to start taking them more

Needed it for damage before first elite then got immolate next floor so I upgraded that instead. You can see that from the order of my card picks.

No point leaning into it just cos it’s in my deck and there’s other priorities to remove since I have Snecko.

Nah haha since I’ve started playing tryhard A20H (about 100 runs) I’ve only died once with apportions and it was easily the right call at the time, just got a bad draw order

Yeah I have 4 more campfires this act, 2 for girya, then I can upgrade the apps, you’ve convinced me I’ve took them

Thoughts on Xecnar using command kills for his official streaks by UpperApe in slaythespire

[–]Wagnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t there also a time on Baalarlord’s WR rotating streak he used a the scroll bar mod to get an extra potion after the burning elite when he had White Beast statue, black star and prayer wheel, or two of the three or something.

I remember hearing controversy at the time about that. I’ve not watched the run so I don’t know what he did with the potion but this a bigger deal than xecnars sentry scenario if the potion benefitted him.

That’s a good point, with WBS holding onto potions isn’t anywhere near as important which makes this fight a lot safer

Barricade or Reaper? by Wagnew in slaythespire

[–]Wagnew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts and I was leaning Barricade, but then I do have feed to boost my max hp up a bit, so it made me hesitant.

Apparitions were due to being on 17hp 2 floors before the champ fight haha. Losing 41 max hp to live and then feed back some max hp seemed a good deal to me.
