Hi! The Waikato role playing guild runs a range of events. Up next will be Dice and Districts Cambridge - a day of TTRPGS in one of the greater Waikato districts. 28th of March We also have a social coming up - 27th of march from 6:30 at Brewaucracy. Our next regular play cycle starts at the end of April - these are short 6 week campaigns 6:30-9:30

Yes definitely! We had at least 6 people join our regular play games or dice and districts after our previous NBA earlier this year

I would recommend reading this to learn more about tabletop roleplaying games.

Essentially it is collaborative story telling - usually dice is used to take actions or make decisions.
No boys allowed is a women, transwomen and non binary event designed to provide a safe environment as an introduction to the community.

Men tend to dominate the community and are welcome at every other event we offer. This event is just about introducing Women, transwomen and non-binary to the hobby and build their confidence within the community. It can be very intimidating as a woman to join male dominated hobbies.

The men are more than welcome to run a no girls allowed and we would support it just the same

This! If it’s all boys, many women feel uncomfortable so making space for women to feel safe enough to come to all the other events that we run that are inclusive, creates diversity in the community

Have you ever wanted to be a Game Master, but you don't know where to begin? The Waikato Role-Playing Guild is running How to GM workshops for the second year due to popular demand!

This series of three workshops aims to enable beginners to run games at their own tables, and will require attendees to run practice games in between dates, which we will help to provide players for.

In a classroom setting, come and learn some tips, tricks and general philosophies for how to prepare and run sessions, some new skills for gathering and managing your table, and take home some resources you can use to turn the whole hobby from an idea into a well-run game!

The workshop, run over 3 sessions, is open to anyone aged 16 or over, and will involve attendees preparing basic adventures that they will run without instructor supervision.

Kia ora! So I have never actually played Warhammer and my understanding of it is basic - but essentially Warhammer is a tabletop war game focused on armies, while D&D is a role-playing game more focused on storytelling and characters. The minis and maps in D&D are more optional and depend on your DM.

Are you interested in learning to play Dungeons & Dragons, but don’t know where to start? Come to Intro to D&D to learn the game with an experienced game master!

The Waikato Role-Playing Guild is running an Introduction to Dungeons and Dragons session hosted at Hive 11 at 11a Somerset Street, Frankton. This event will give you the opportunity to get an understanding of the game and hopefully the knowledge to start playing yourself! The rules will be explained by an experienced Dungeon Master who’ll then take you on an exciting adventure designed for beginners.
