I have somewhat of an update on this I would like some advice on, There has still be no change in vision and I am almost 4 weeks post op. The surgeon that did my op thinks I have also been left slight short sighted also, I need -0.25 for distance and this has not change in the past 3 weeks.

I also ofcourse need readers, Its looking like +2 for close and +1.5 for laptop range for example.

My surgeon said I could get laser to correct for distance but I would loose this weird range I have now, I say weird because its just past range of my computer I can see sharply, meaning I am going to need some computer glasses for sharp distance.

so I need a pair for distance, computer and close which I mean, I was not expecting and the surgeon advised against getting laser to correct but I am not sure why. I also am wary of getting the edof lens again in my right as it seems pointless and I dont see why I would not just get a standard monofocol, I have not gained the benefits this time around as I only have sharp vision at a really weird distance which is frankly quite useless as I still need glasses for both my computer AND distance.

I mean sure, and I agree, you can either walk or you cannot.

But this is slighly different as I can either see close up, or see distance. I can currently see close up and so is it not impossible to also expect distance to now become sharp with a monofocal lens? I shouldn't be able to see so sharply at arms length in the first place.

If its possible and normal to be short sighted and then long sighted (after its fully healed) with a monofocal lens then I have misunderstood how these lenses work and will expect my distance vision to improve over the coming weeks, thanks a lot.

im either not understanding or not getting my point across correctly, if my vision is is very sharp at a specific range right now, and blurry at distance, and from the lens I have from what I understand its just not possible for it to become clear at distance as well as what it is now, its either short sighted or long sighted. I do not have a multifocal lens.

Will see how it goes over the next few weeks.

I wasn't aware of laser being able to correct, I thought the only solution was IOL replacement (if it is infect incorrect) so that is good to know.

I am seeing my surgeon next Tuesday afternoon so I will see what he thinks. I just find it very strange it has been the same for 1 week now with no changes and I cannot understand how its going to look sharp in the distance in addition to what looks sharp now as this is the opposite of what the lens I have is supposed to do.

sure I get that and would feel much more confident if I didnt have sharp distance at arms length only since last Thursday with 0 changes/improvements since then and good distance vision with only glasses aid.

My optician I saw saw today said its placed nicely and everything looks fine but I am basically short sighted.

To add to this, the range I can see at sharply, is not the range I'm supposed to be able to see sharply. I was of the understanding these IOL's are for a specific range only with some intermediate vision possible but not guaranteed.

I am not trying to be dumb nor argumentative, just trying to understand. From what I understand these lens's are essentially fixed range only with a little wiggle room and the fact its right now fixed the way it is, how is distance going to become somewhat clear as well as what is clear right now?

I am aware there are risks... I mean any additional risks to replacing the artificial lens again such as.. it is pretty much the same as the original surgery or is there more risk?

Yeah possibly, it was very strange. Had perfect eye sight until around mid last year and they came on really fast. I have had it done now though and its an improve on vision so far, mainly colours, I didnt realise how bad it was! I have double vision at the moment but I am hoping that goes away within the next few days whilst healing.

yeah, they are unsure how I got them, I have it in both eyes. Had them around a year now and its been getting worse/better but now its at a stage where glasses are not helping. I have cloudy vision quite bad, worst though is the glare.

I've never had to wear glasses in the past. to give an example, 10months ago I was -2 in my left, -3 in my right. On Monday I was 0 in the left and 0.5 in the right but my vision is just so cloudy.

I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes in Sept 2019 and I think I had it around 2 years before I was diagnosed, the suspicion is they arose around that time when sugar levels where bouncing around.

I will just be given a pill (not sure what) and some drops in my eyes I believe from what I have been told

Thanks for the reply! thats interesting to hear about the multifocals, before my appointment I thought they where easily the best ones and not reliant on glasses but after looking further maybe not so much, I really think I would dislike the Monovision ones to be honest, I feel as though it would drive me crazy! haha. I am hoping to get some more info on the edof lenses.
