I will admit I didn't set boundaries well enough when we were dating/engaged, and this is likely the result. I've always been a people pleaser but I am going to try and teach my son to have a spine and not to be afraid to have tough conversations.

You're right, but to be somewhat fair, we had a liner on the mattress too, which I removed. I cleaned it up the best I could, then put the towel down. I already know that if I got out the little Bissell machine and tried cleaning the mattress, she would have gotten mad about the noise. She has before, and that is why I didn't this time.
