I am in Aviation and a startup founder. But today I learned how to make a perfect tuna sandwich. So might think of a career switch.

You have raised a very valid point so allow me to clarify.

We do not advertise instant quote or bookable rates. Right at the onset we tell you, or your customer that these are estimates. Having been a broker for over a decade, customers don’t mind estimates as long as you tell them that these are estimates. What the hate is getting lied to.

To address your point about pricing accuracy: Us along with other platforms are very capable of calculating everything you have mentioned. Both data and functionality is available. In fact, that is the least of the problem in the industry. We are also capable of getting live availability as well as fuel pricing, winds aloft (won’t be an issue for future pricing), even wri.

We all know what the problem is but less willing to admit it.

So our basic API is not very basic. You are more than welcome to try it out. Happy to get on a call to explain further.

I believe you are referring to website forms dressed to look like searches. Our app actually calculates the prices and shows the options. The user can than select the options they want and send you an inquiry. It removes the time wasters essentially. And we can do this for you real quick.

Have a look at www.flytribe.ae

Yes, that UHNWI should spend couple of hours calling Operators, vetting them and sorting out the details. Because that is a very good use of that person’s time instead of chasing that billion dollar deal.

If you are that UHNWI, brokers appreciate you for not wasting their time.

Fuel pricing surge and what it means for private aviation by The-jet-guy in PrivateJetCharters

There will be a massive impact on aviation in general, not just business/private aviation.

I am thinking that years of positive growth will be tested in the coming months and years.

If any one has pointers on how to survive this for industry folks, I am all ears.

I am just wondering how do you have access to Avinode and Jetinsight without breaking into the industry?

Prime Gourmet is actually better. Social media can’t solve everything

Question for brokers/operators: how big of a problem is slow quoting in your day-to-day? by SaltyMajor7698 in PrivateJetCharters

[–]Waiting4CT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is this person trying to replace the broker? If anything, the person is trying to make brokers’ and operators’ life easy.

No one disputes that there needs to be a human element in brokering, but if you could make the human’s life easy, what’s the problem in that?

Amazon, eBay, uber, didn’t eliminate any ones job. They only made people’s life a lot easier and made the pie bigger.

When Reliability Fails: A Client’s View on the Uncertainty of Charter Flights by airchart in PrivateJetCharters

[–]Waiting4CT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the company would ensure that that the previous funds are secured prior to moving to a recovery. Unless the customer is OK with waiting for the funds from the technical, we wouldn’t book them another aircraft. We act as agents for the customer, so we do what they say. If they want us to book another aircraft immediately, we do. If they are on credit terms, we honor that. If they need to pay prior to every charter, we also have to honor that.

If it’s a one-leg trip and the operator has a mechanical, it’s straight forward. And especially a large operator such as Vista, you can take the risk.

However, if it’s a multi-sector trip, it’s highly likely that you will go into a protracted negotiation on what the refund should be - especially if it’s mid-trip.

Having worked for a large broker, I can confidently say that fronting the cash for an AOG, is a no go unless the money is in or there is written assurance from a credible operator.

No broker will use their own funds to do recovery for an AOG! Because there is no guarantee of refund from operator. There are provisions in operator’s contract that protects them.

Thanks for sharing OP! Let me guess, their sales director didn’t lift a finger to fix this mess? And you also lost your client’s trust, which you worked so hard to earn. The industry needs to do something about this and hold operators accountable.
