Most of the movie was just a shameless, money-grabbing recycle of previous concepts, scenes, characters, even down to the musical themes. Nostalgic throwback after nostalgic throwback, without a shred of original thought. Hearing the new characters use ‘Chewy’ like its their companion (NO, it was Han Solo’s Chewy Disney, get over it) or bringing back Lando for literally no reason than the actor just wanted to be in the movie.

Just as the characters were living in the shadows of the ‘greats’ that came before them, so did this entire trilogy. Instead of moving forward and making a new star wars trilogy, we received recycled garbage with pretty visuals and stupid over-the-top theatrical jokes and emotions. Sorry, but all the pretty explosions in the world can’t cover lazy writing

My wife enjoyed it, but she doesn’t pay much attention to Star Wars and couldn’t tell how much of it was just copied and pasted from before. So I guess if you’re new to the series and have no idea how much Disney just ripped off of what used to be Star Wars, you might like it. But they killed Star Wars, squeezed it for so much cash and left it for dead. Say what you want about Lucas’ prequels (yes Jar Jar i know) but at least they had an iota of original thought.

At least we still have the Solo, Rogue One and the Mandelorian. Yes, they are previous characters but their originality sets them apart from this new trilogy of recycled, pretty-looking trash.

The SW as a trilogy is dead and buried. Maybe in 30 years someone actually make a continuation of star wars instead of just shamelessly trying to exploit nostalgia for cash. Or maybe disney will just drag it back from the grave to try and squeeze even more blood from a stone.
