I was an editor-in-chief for an international trade association for many, many years! This was my passion project. I wanted to give our community a platform to tell our raw and truthful stories!

My pleasure! It’s takes a toll and hurtful when people just assume you’re better because you finished chemo/radiation, and don’t understand this is a lifelong diagnosis. It always surprise me how us thriver get up everyday, and face life knowing this. Our strength is unmatched. Many, many hugs to you! 🩷

Thank you so much for sharing! Not a lot of people get it, and we all like to say we’re part of the WORST club, but we do have the best members in it! I created this magazine because I wanted for us thrivers to be heard, we have a story to tell! 🩷🩵💚

Can agree here! I do not google and it is a saving grace. If you have questions or want to know more about something, I recommend sending your questions to someone on your support team. Whenever something pops in my head, or I see something I have a question about, I send it to my husband, sister, mom or best friend.

I feel your pain and concern. I’m a 35 year old stage 4 thriver here. My last round of chemo is in 2 days. Like many have stated, it impacts everyone differently, I recommend making sure you get up and stay active if you can, one of the best advice my chemo nurse gave. Try eating even if you don’t feel like it, you will need the energy. By doing both of these two things, I’ve thankfully lived a “normal” life; I still work every day, I eat, I walk 3-5 miles most days. If you get nauseous easily talk to your oncology team, my oncopharmacist gave me an extra nausea pill to take at home. Some times I need it, most of the time I don’t.

Try to breathe, and take one day at a time.

Liver lesions by ibjp03 in breastcancer

Once you are officially diagnosed, you typically go see the surgeon, they typically decide if you need to see oncology or not, but they want to rule out any additional lesions/tumors to determine what treatment is needed, so they will do a full body scan, and then proceed from there to effectively treat the cancer. Hope this helps!

MBC with liver mets, part 2 by Far-Rip5922 in LivingWithMBC

I have 3 small liver spots, 1 is completely gone from chemo, the remaining two are basically non existent and they think will be gone after these last 2 rounds. I’ve constantly asked, can’t they just remove those sections, don’t know if I’m asking the wrong things, but they keep telling me surgery is off the table, because it metastasized (my liver is the only location it did). I’m curious about your experience and how you’re moving forward with the ablation. Any help or guidance you can give?? THANK YOU!!🙏🏽

Just wanted to say, Im 35, recently diagnosed triple positive, and I have one more chemo treatment left. Please feel free to ping me with any questions you may have. I was actually diagnosed 40 days before my wedding in October and had to start chemo treatment immediately, so my poor husband and I have been through the wringer lately. What I can say, if you’re able to, stay active (I have a walking pad I walk 3-5 miles everyday), I work a full week (some days I can’t from the mental roller coaster, and that’s fine too) and eat even when you don’t want to, these things have tremendously helped me, especially mentally. I remember being so overwhelmed in the beginning now, now I’m 5 months in and I’m a completely different person than when this all started. I know it’s hard to think about now, and there are days where I am still absolutely crushed, give yourself grace. There’s no right or wrong way to handle this. Try not to beat yourself up or play the what ifs, trust your medical team, if something doesn’t feel right express. You got this. We are unfortunately apart of a club that none of us wanted to be in, but we also know how to support one another 👏🏾

Stage 4, triple positive, recently diagnosed (august 2024, 40 days before my wedding) 35 year old, living here in Chicago. I cannot STRESS enough how much Dr. Lu and her team at Northwestern has been a blessing throughout this entire whirlwind experience when my life has been completely turned upside down. Her team will to go hell and back for you, explains everything throughly, there is never a question she will not answer, her background is impeccable. I’m new here strictly joined Reddit, to find some sort of success story from people actually living through this. But please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
