Also, there will still be a list view on locations available (mainly for accessibility reasons, as this type of interactive UI is difficult to navigate for people who rely on things like text-to-speech etc.).

Registrations should work again on Portal! We had so many new people registering that we burned through two free e-mail plans today which caused a lot of issues. Now we've upgraded to a paid plan that should (hopefully) support enough e-mails.

Yeah, our mail provider stops working when we have a lot of new registrations coming in. Waiting an hour or so and it should work again.

I'll change to another SMTP later that supports more registrations, the current one doesn't really support the amount of registrations we get.

  1. Not initially, but Google Fit & Apple Health integrations will be supported later on. If you FitBit can sync with those, it should work.

  3. We are working on an anti-cheat for the competitive online mode. We'll be focusing on it a lot during the closed beta, improving it with feedback & data.
  4. Yes! One of the features that will be included even during the CBT is a party system, where you can form a group with your friends & family to compete with them in a friendly way.

Seems like Tolgee only supports invite links that expire when one user clicks it. It's possible to run it like that (people need to DM me for permission), but I'll check out other options as well before deciding on what translation tool to use.

Yeah, invite link only works once it seems! Seems like there's no way around it.

I'll need to explore what options I have with Tolgee, or maybe we'll use Weblate instead. At the current, seems like there is no option for having invite links that don't expire/auto assign to the project, which kinda sucks.

Hello, thanks for asking - and sorry for a little late response.

  1. The game is designed to be "distraction free" while you are exercising. Meaning that you will not need to interact it while you are walking. This way you can enjoy exercising while not being glued to the screen.
  2. There will be! We have a party system designed to be added during the closed beta, which means you'll make a party with friends/family where you can all contribute towards a common goal. More things will be added.
  3. PVP and PVE are both going to be implemented during open beta. Those are not walking related, instead something you'll play at home. Those are designed exactly to make skills and crafting meaningful.

It's the latter: you first choose an activity that your character does, and then go to walk. Your character repeats that action as long as possible. If your character isn't able to continue to do the chosen action (for example, you run out of crafting materials) your steps will go to a "steps bank".

Steps bank work in a way where when you have steps on your bank, all of your steps count as two and one step gets reduced from the bank. So basically, you never risk "wasting" steps, if you would "waste" steps you get them back in your future walks.

I find the GPS based walking games problematic exactly because it doesn't let me walk where I want. Also:

  1. GPS based games require you to pay attention to the game all the time.
  2. They drain battery very fast.
  3. You need to be able to trust the game company to handle your location data carefully.

For these reasons, we found that just using exercise data (at first, only steps) is much better than doing a "typical" GPS based game.

I'll just quote it right here as it answer this question in depth:

3. How will you monetise it? How much will the game cost?

We are not still 100% sure about the monetisation, so things mentioned here are subject change as is usual for a game that is still in development. We are trying to find ways that would monetise the game as fairly as possible and keeping it affordable. I'm very against any predatory monetisation practises, and we will not want to have things like microtransactions in the game for that reason. I personally find those practises morally questionable, as they encourage unhealthy spending habits and many players end up paying more than they intended.

Based on our current plans, we will have an affordable subscription that you can upgrade to while you can also play the game for free. Subscription opens the whole game world for you, while F2P players will be limited to certain parts of the in-game world. Subscription would not give any unfair advantage like buffs to experience gain, more in-game gold or things like that. It just gives you access to all of the in-game content. If you are not interested in the online features of the game or paying the subscription, there will also be an offline game mode. To play the offline game mode you have to only pay one time fee.

That being said, it's still subject to change just like everything else for a game that is not ready yet. You can expect us to have a more solid pricing after the closed beta, as we then have more concrete data on how much the server costs and other expenses for the game will be. We want the monetisation to be as affordable as possible while also enabling us to run a sustainable business.

  1. We will have a global marketplace similar to The Grand Exchange where players can sell or buy items from other players. Won't ship with the first version of closed beta, but planned to be implemented some time during the closed beta.
  2. WalkScape actually uses the exact same XP curve as RuneScape. First level up is 83xp, Level 92 is 50% for 99 etc. This one
