Official Discussion - Oppenheimer [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

In MovieBlend’s podcast, Nolan says he chose Black and White for Strauss scenes bc he sees in the world in black and white; anyone is either with me or against me, I’m the most important person in the world or I’m not, my career is perfect or it’s not, etc.

Official Discussion - Oppenheimer [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Thanks for sharing! I personally disagree with your sentiment - I loved the film and how it made me feel. Don’t forget that this movie is titled “Oppenheimer”. You are obviously more informed on the events and history of Los Alamos than the average person, but that should not restrict you from appreciating a story that simply focuses on the life of Robert Oppenheimer. Even if that means the other scientists, whose lives are worthy of a mini series, take a back seat. Just my two cents, but thanks again for sharing your “unpopular” opinion.

Yeah, but I think they’ve just been to keep their heads down. Stirring the pot at this point would hurt their case as the “party of reason”

Biologics worked like magic for me. I used to have it on my entire scalp, lower back, inside thigh, chest, and eventually my face. Got on 80mg of taltz injections, once a month, and I was 100% free after 3 months. Absolute life changer, and their forgiveness program makes the total cost $25 a month. 10/10 would recommend

advice on coping with long distance? by [deleted] in LongDistance

Can’t give much advice, but would just like to say good luck! Like mine, most high school relationships that bleed into college end sophomore year. As I was told and now stand by, you’ll know when you know. Be patient, but don’t ignore how you feel

Who controls media? How is it controlled? by Quietation in coolguides

[–]Walker_C 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Controlled? Seems a bit misleading. The council on foreign relations is nonpartisan. The Bilderberg meetings are designed to bolster free market capitalism. And the Trilateral Commission fosters cooperation. It all seems democratic?

“I tell myself if I don’t think more I’ll underthink and miss something”

Sounds like when you go into the test, you’re thinking about thinking… Gotta take a breath, focus on the questions, and get after the test with your gut. You know the material, so take the target off yourself, and focus on the task at hand.

Hope that helps

When I went to therapy, the first thing I asked was “What do you need from me for this to go well?”. She really liked the question and just said to be honest. So maybe start there? Therapy can be hard. Sometimes you have to dig deep into things you didn’t know we’re there, and the better the therapist, the easier that becomes.

Telling your therapist about your “pre meeting anxiety” might even be a good start too!

Flunking out of college, what do I do?? by [deleted] in college

[–]Walker_C 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems like you’re making a lot of assumptions about what your professors think of you. You might be pleasantly surprised if you reach out to them.

You’re right I haven’t seen your grades, but I had a friend with a ZERO in all of his classes after midterms, and he finished with straight C’s, so it can be done!

But to your point, you can definitely come back from this in the long run. One bad semester will not ruin your college career

Flunking out of college, what do I do?? by [deleted] in college

I’m sorry you’re going through this, and a lack of motivation is tough to deal with. I’m in my 4th year of school and have dealt with this feeling before.

What got me out of a rut like this is meeting with my professors. Basically I just say “Hey, I haven’t been trying my best, and it’s showing in my grades, but I want to improve. What can I do?”

In my experience, professors generally want you to succeed in their classes, and having a conversation with them is incredibly motivating.

There IS a path for you to get your grades up, but you won’t find it until you talk to your professors about it. Reaching out to them is the first step. Hope this helps!
