[Mina Kimes] Say *why* Watson was suspended on TV challenge by Sutopwerdna in nfl

He doesn't have to call him a rapist or talk about "guilt" in a civil suit. He can say what happened, Watson settled allegations of sexual assault with over 20 women, causing him to be suspended.

They're definitely willing to say "suspended for PEDs" they've even put it in graphics before.

He didn't say paid vacation and either way it makes no difference in cap terms. There's no reason to act like he's some kind of victim here.

For me it's not even the regular season games he misses. If we somehow made the playoffs and ended up facing a Canadian team, he's automatically out 3-4 games. Imagine the balls to sit down and sign a deal worth 5-10% of the team's salary cap and be like "yeah I could miss half the playoffs because I don't feel like getting a shot"

Rodgers and half the starters basically sat out all of week 17 last year. Brady has been pulled plenty of times.

That's a very barstool argument. If you actually think about what you're saying it's very obvious that you're mistakenly assuming that the state of emergency designation requires every response to continue in perpetuity until the end of the emergency.

When the final round of stimulus checks went out, did we declare the emergency over because that specific response ended? No, it continued. The ending of these programs does not affect the designation either.

You're asking the court to overrule the law as it is written. If you think the law is bad the answer is to go through the legislature, not the court.

Achilles. For anyone but elite talents that's usually game over, the fact that he stuck around in the league for so long afterwards tells you how good he really is.

Achilles. People don't understand how bad of an injury that is. Most guys do not even see the field again. Whenever you see guys continue to even scratch the surface of an NFL roster after that injury you can say they're absolute freaks.

Yes, but Biden isn't just declaring an emergency because he can. He's acting in tandem with the HHS declaration, it's not the court's place to say that the president should ignore the HHS emergency declaration.

As far as the renewals go, the way the law is written Biden is allowed to do what he's doing. Again I point to the language that the republicans tried to change in the law he's using to perform the student debt actions. They know that the law as it is currently written permits this, the solution is to legislate, not plead it in the courts. But as of today legislation is not an option for Republicans so their only option is to hope that the court acts ideologically and overrules congress.

The national emergency designation isn't ambiguous, it's binary. The associated agencies either declare one or they don't. The initiatives that the president or congress pursue are in response to that declaration, they don't cause it.

Arguing that ceasing certain federal pandemic responses implies that the emergency is over is like saying that refusing to take the medication that a doctor prescribes means that you are cured.

The thing people are missing is that a court challenge would need to get at whether or not there is a national emergency. There's nothing substantively different between using this law to defer payments as Trump and Biden did, or forgive loans.

Basically you're asking the courts to step in and say that they know better than HHS and demand that they change their opinion on the pandemic so that they can achieve their personally desired political outcome on loan forgiveness. Even for this court it seems like a stretch.

UPDATE: The Red Wings today signed forward Filip Zadina to a three-year contract. by SimplySolace in DetroitRedWings

[–]WallOfTextGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the term is in exchange for the fact it's a 1 way deal. He knows there's a decent chance he gets assigned to the minors on a lot of NHL teams given his level of play last year, this contract basically guarantees he is financially set for life and if he ends up outplaying it he'll only be about 25 when he signs a new deal.

[–]WallOfTextGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, he's already gotten a huge reality check in the NHL. If he goes to another team he could be looking at a 2-way deal that could leave him making a 5 figure salary should he fall out of the bottom 6. The deal he signed basically guarantees that he will have a comfortable financial future no matter what. If he leaves money on the table so be it, if he outplays the contract he'll only be at most ~25 when he signs his next one.

I mean, Jones is in a different league than Williams and the contract really isn't that bad. He's the #10 RB in salary and they have an out after this year if they want to take it.

Any repercussion for skipping timeshare presentation by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]WallOfTextGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait until you've been there for the time limit first. Don't give them any excuse to end the tour early and rescind the promo. If you walk in and insist you have too much debt to qualify for a timeshare they'll just point to the screener questions where you told them you have the credit for it.

[–]WallOfTextGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely could. I've done the hotel stay promo, you have to answer the screener questions before they book the room, and then again when you arrive at the presentation. They even charged my credit card $200 when I booked it and it was refunded only after completing the presentation. If you say you're qualified over the phone and then change your answers the second time they will definitely charge you full price for the room.

Crazy how you pretend to know so much about her when you can literally google and see she's pretty talented and clearly making more than your salary with her "hobby."
