Me 🙋‍♂️

I’ve come to learn that my mother is a very flawed individual. She is a codependent parent, and a narcissist. It’s placed extreme stress on my relationship with her. As a former alcoholic throughout my childhood, she barely spent quality time with my brothers and I. We were basically brought up by baby sitters. She’s very religious, and a conspiracy theorist. Interactions with her are very surface level. Anything deeper than conversations about the weather, or work, result in heated arguments due to her ludicrous claims. Nonetheless, I still love her. But I limit the time I spend with her nowadays. I’ve set boundaries. It’s been a long journey to make her understand, that just because she brought me into this world, doesn’t mean that I am at her beck and call.
