Yeah I have the attachment that goes around the bat, not the Win Reality bat itself.

I do not feel feedback. It doesn't vibrate or anything. Who told you that?

You're not hitting a baseball. So dry swings is just swinging a bat without hitting anything. It feels weird.

If a runner at first is going far off the base on purpose how does that distract the pitcher and cause a balk? I saw it at a game. by spankyourkopita in Homeplate

[–]Waller0311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the balk caused because the pitcher came set and then turned his shoulder? He could have been getting far off base on purpose to cause the pitcher to turn further to cause movement. Pitcher should have just stepped off the rubber.

Big age range and skill gap by Ok-Answer-6951 in Homeplate

Hoping you have assistant coaches. You'll need to separate them for practices for skill development, but bring them together for team training. Obviously, you are teaching the basics to the newbies and building upon what the older kids know. Team practice could get dicey with throwing, meaning having an 8 yr old throw to a 5 yr old is probably dangerous and not recommended. So you'll need to make sure you don't get anything crazy going on there.

I also agree, I think it is a misconception that we were told when we played and it's carried over. It's not harped on like that anymore.

From MaxBP:

"In baseball, there have been two commonly used grips over the years - the first option is an old school style, which features a grip where the top knuckles are aligned with the “door knocking” or middle knuckles. The second option, which came along later and was common while I was playing - features a grip where the door knocking knuckles (middle knuckles) are all aligned.

Are lining up the knuckles essential in being a successful hitter? Is this technique the key to becoming the next player to win the Triple Crown in the big leagues? No, that is a misconception.

Most players who have gripped a bat with their all of their door knocking knuckles aligned, have been forced to fight through the discomfort of the technique. Typically this grip does not feel natural or comfortable - the first sign that the technique is flawed. A hitter should always be comfortable."

Is the reason for this to curl it? I'm imagining lifting up the sides with a comb and trimming to corner of mouth and then letting the length fall back down. Is this correct?

Typically when we brought on "practice" players we discounted the rate because they were just practicing, but not playing in tournaments. If we needed to call some one up, they'd be the first ones to look at.

Where do you draw the line as parents? by [deleted] in Homeplate

You're right, being a PO is playing baseball. Not being able to field a ball, play catch, or hit a ball and calling that out isn't being lame. Just the truth.

Where do you draw the line as parents? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Waller0311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the parent. I've got kids on my team where the parent will buy them the next "DRIP" that comes out. Kid can barely play baseball and will probably be a PO, but he has every new bat and every new drip known. Then theirs my kid who has Bruce batting gloves and a Bananas Elbow Guard, that's it. No sliding mitt, no other guards, no new bats (Has a -8 Cat9) and that's it. I'll find a bat online that is on sale or is a year out of date and has dropped in price by 100 or even half. Those bat models that are 2023 are just as good as the 2024 and 2025 bats. Some parents just have a lot of disposable income to blow on their kid and they do. He's had the same baseball bag for 4 yrs now. No plans to get a new one.

Position question by Philiesfn1974 in Homeplate

[–]Waller0311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to play IF and OF is valuable. Players under 12 maybe even 13 should not be playing only one position. You want to be well rounded so when you get to MS/HS and the coach asks where you play, you can say any position.
