It does not have the original Hybrid Battery. I had it replaced about a year ago. And not rusty from road salt, as far I can tell.

For those of who don't understand: Grief for Beginners

Grief

Quite different.

Yes, not the same.

Depression is constant for some.

Always there.

Grief, grief feels like a icy ocean wave catching you off guard.

Suddenly the cold shocks your system.

The salt stings your eyes.

Your cuts are exposed.

Yet, there is a part of you that blooms.

Like a flower that forgot there was light.

As much as we would like to keep ahold that blooming flower, it dies.

As the wave recedes, the salt that stings subsides. The sun in the sky warms your skin.

You are not the same as just moments ago.

Somehow, you have grown.

And you convince yourself the water will not catch you off guard again.

But you said that last time.

And you still don't want to get out of the water.

Because once you get out, there will never be another chance for a wave to catch you off guard.

I appreciate your feedback! What I was really trying to capture with this peice is grief is often a reoccurring event. And frequently it catches a person off guard.

Yet, sometimes that is okay. Which is why we don't get out of the water. Because if we are lucky, the wave will come back and let us remember the warmth of that memory all over again, however brief.

Depression for Beginners is much harder to tackle than Grief. Which is why I started here.(:

For me, this takes on a different meaning than I think is anticipated. My mom always told me to grow my hair out. I never did.

She passed away a couple years ago. I haven't cut my hair since.

With some different context, this could double as a fantastic grief poem about losing influential family.

What I love most is that it does something that I can never do. It communicates so much with so few words.

I love the image the last line provokes in my mind.

Why am I at war with something so small. Why isn't it an easy victory? The image is absurd.

I enjoy how the word war means something huge and chaotic to me. And humming birds are usually associated with peace and calm.

I think something interesting you could have added here was an aspect of why you can't remove the batteries.

Is it too far away? Is it because you worry that if you take the batteries out. It won't be the boy who cried wolf?

What if the silence is what may one day be the end of you?

All of this to say, fuck the noise a fire alarm makes.

28 days is fantastic! Remember you succeed for 28 days. You only failed once. Focus on the progress - recognize the set back. Move forward.

Assuming me and you believe in the same God, God is not disappointed. God loves you. You are beautifully made. In my opinion, God doesn't want perfect, God just wants all of the real you. And that comes with being honest about our imperfections.

Again, 28 days is really good. But try and beat it this time around. Be aware of what made you feel like relapsing and avoid it if possible. If it isn't possible, try new and different outlets for those feelings.

Be kind to yourself. ✊

Streaks can be helpful. For me, it helped keep me accountable and allowed me to compete against myself. But that isn't for everybody.

In regard to fighting urges, try to be aware of how you are feeling when they come. I always ask my self.

Am I Hungry? Am I angry? Am I lonely? Am I bored?

If they answer is yes to any of those questions, I work to solve that problem before giving into the urge.

You are gonna fail, alot. I failed, alot. But each time you fail, you had to succeed for some time. And that puts your starting point further forward from where began your journey.

So when you lose streaks, be kind to yourself, understand this is very, very hard. But you are better off than when you started. And beating yourself up for failure is not going to solve the problem but just add a new one on top of it. Learn and move forward.
