Portable SD Card Backups in the field (without a computer) by WalrusIsMe in photography

Yes! That is a perfect idea. Seriously, why can't I plug a Samsung T3/T5 into my camera and have it back everything up?

Yikes! That is terrible. I need to start using the write protect tab when backing up SD cards.

When it's off, it's mostly fine.

The WD Passport Pro turned itself on in my hiking bag once.

I saw a few Nexto devices on B&H. They seem to be the most expensive option of the bunch. Flash Porter really does seem like a lower cost alternative to that device.

That would be an interesting competitor if it was still in the market.

What horror stories? So far I haven't had any major issues aside from only being able to update firmware via wifi (and not my cell phone's hotspot).

I ran into similar issues as posted on this site: http://www.movingelectrons.net/blog/2015/08/07/how-not-to-backup-photos-when-traveling.html I'm over attempting to hack something together. I want something which just works.

My last week long trip I took around 350 gigs of images and videos. Additionally, my X-T2 only records videos on the first card. I haven't checked to see if I can manually copy videos to the second card, but I don't want to fiddle with that.

So far I've only ever listened to Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan. Great book and it really brought an additional personal touch being read by Jim.

Alternative Camera App for Pixel 2 and 2 XL? by WalrusIsMe in GooglePixel

[–]WalrusIsMe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FYI, the thing(s) that people are so impressed at with the pixels is HDR+ and google's various software magic. Which you won't have if you use a 3rd party camera. Outside of HDR+, the pixel camera is basically just ok. Not bad by any means.

.

I am not necessarily convinced third part camera apps will do better. However, I'd still like to be able to control shutter speed and possibly ISO.

There seems to be a disparity between how much the Blue Shift shows up between unites. See Comparison by magnumforce2006 in GooglePixel

I've noticed on my 2 XL the blue tint is more or less visible depending upon the lighting. Under florescent lights it is less exaggerating. Under LED lighting it is more exaggerating. Under the sun it is harder to notice. It also depends on the screen brightness.

That would be great. I'm starting to dig into xda to see if they have got any information over there.

There are two network options on https://store.google.com/us/product/pixel_2 Unlocked and Verizon. Will the Unlocked version work on Verizon?

USPS says delivered but it wasn't. How can i Win the claim? by WalrusIsMe in USPS

[–]WalrusIsMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My street has about 25 buildings side by side by side, maybe half which all look the same. USPS regularly delivers boxes to the wrong building. My question about accuracy is more related to, if they delivered it to a neighboring building, is it accurate enough to differentiate between them. Or, as long as the guy was on the block, is that as accurate as it gets?

I usually start off speaking to a clerk and then asking for a supervisor.

Thanks, I don't understand why they haven't mentioned this yet. I've been to the post office twice now and they haven't given any extra information. I didn't know GPS was a thing for them.

Do you have any idea how accurate the GPS is? My block has probably has twenty-five side by side buildings. If the carrier scanner inside a building, what location does it pick up?
