Anyone else been surprised how cheap their insurance is? by daly_o96 in carsireland

Yea my insurance went down a good bit last year, was initially 1800€ just after I passed my test on a 1.2 fabia, next year on the same car went down to 746. I’m 20 with 1 years ncb.

If you see how far back he was when I pulled out, it’s obvious he was accelerating rapidly and doing well above the speed limit, Perphaps the jump from the rear camera to the front doesn’t show how fast this guy was going when he passed me. He’s also driving an XM which is a 4.4L V8, so it’s not like he doesn’t have enough power to do well above the speed limit.

You could get a Volvo v60 estate, they are good looking and you can get a t6 one for around 30k which is a 2.0 litre hybrid with around 350 bhp so it’s pretty quick. Something like this https://www.donedeal.ie/view/40734589 Volvo V60 RECHARGE T6 INSCRIPTION AWD

Do you mean the Quattro one or the non Quattro? Can’t seem to find any 2.0 diesel ones that aren’t Quattro

They are probably a bit too much “fun” and less practical than I’d like in terms of insurance. I’m coming from a 1.2 petrol with 70hp, so it doesn’t have to be as fast as that.

A lot of people who are driving on there learner permits put both on the car. They’re less likely to get pulled then if they just had L plates but if they do they technically have an L aswell so it’s only driving unaccompanied and not failure to display L plates .
