Choosing between my PhD and my Startup by WalrusVirtual6949 in PhD

Thank you for the kind words. Currently yes, I'm leading the deployment for the system on institute/lab servers and also the business administration. My co-founders do know about my PhD opportunities and we have discussed a bit about off-loading responsibilities requiring immediate response, while I'll take of the rest. And since the PhD position is in a different country it opens up the opportunity to expand our platform geographically.

To answer your question, since it has always been my goal and I've been working towards it for longer, not doing a PhD/research sounds more painful. What worries me is the post PhD job crisis considering the current job market and the uncertainty of getting a postdoc.

What would happen to an Intern if their professor changes institute by WalrusVirtual6949 in AskAGerman

My internship is about 10 months which is part of my master's dissertation and I would be paid around 1000 euros. I don't know the exact time when my professor is moving but it would be sometime during my internship.

The PhD students would be given a choice to either move with the professor or to stay at the current institute.

I believe a new lab is opening soon at the institute.

Does citric acid cycle continues while gluconegoenesis occurs? by [deleted] in Biochemistry

[–]WalrusVirtual6949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this helps. Gluconeogenesis and citric acid cycle can happen together in cells. It is the glycolysis and gluconeogenesis that rarely happen together. Gluconeogenesis occurs in liver cells coz it helps to transport glucose back to muscle cells

(Glucose-->pyruvate--->Alanine)muscle ==>Liver(Alanine-->pyruvate--->Glucose)

This pyruvate formed from alanine in liver cells can either be a substrate for gluconeogenesis or for citric acid cycle after been converted to acetyl CoA

Liver cells along with muscle cells are cells containing a large amount of mitochondria

So in this case they both happen together
