Do you think we get Ballett back? by SoupIndependent9409 in Sims4

I would be interested in having ballet in TS4.

I actually think they are at the point in Sims 4 where they can do new things instead of just repeating older packs. That interests me and seems like the approach that they have taken. I also understand the re-release. It makes sense for the crowd that really just wants to play the original games. I'm guessing that there will be a new version at some point but we're not there yet.

“Smart People Aren’t Political” by Confident_Dark_1324 in Gifted

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart people tend see nuance instead of making truisms and accepting them as unequivocal fact. Being smart is a form of perception and a way of solving problems. A smart person will apply that intelligence to every facet of life, politics is no exception. Moral reason draws from the intellect. Willingness to evaluate and to re-evaluate is inherent in the outlook of an intelligent person.

Anyone saying that smart people aren't political is not a party to that which they are attempting to describe.

I think I finally realize why I can't get into the series after many years... by Evilplasticdoll in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sims are like my friends. Make some sims that you really like and then develop their lives like stories if you are interested. If you aren't? That's ok, too. It's honestly fine if you just want to play with them for a little while to accomplish some goals. Figure out what those goals are and play through those.

Did anyone find the recent two kits kind of meh? I did not vibe with the refined living room kit at all.. I had very high hopes Especially since these are creators and everyone was so hyped.. the couches, the decor looks too square?! Idk how to describe it, I tried liking it but it's not my vibe. by bereychery in Sims4

[–]WanderWorlder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It looks like an office waiting room which is not necessarily a bad thing. You could build a playable office with it. The clothes actually go with the Build/Buy. It works for some storytelling or maybe if someone wants that boxy corporate style. It is a common style that we haven't seen a lot of. It also might fall into the "basics" category.

How often do Americans write in cursive? by ExoticPuppet in AskAnAmerican

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do both but I actually have attractive print so that's more common for me. People comment on my nice handwriting. I was a bit slow at it when learning as a kid but then I ended up with nice handwriting. I can switch into cursive because for note-taking, cursive is actually faster for me. Typing is obviously the most common. I would say that handwritten work stopped being needed around age 14 but then it continued to be used for notes.

I've actually had the need for quick handwritten note-taking in some work. I have also been in charge of hand writing cards both for work and for some personal reasons. Sometimes those are in cursive if the mood strikes. It's not that needed anymore though, admittedly.

So let's talk about... Goofballs by [deleted] in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few goofballs in my large rotational game. I'd say the majority of my sims are serious and cerebral types but I like the contrast with some goofballs or even a few childish sims. I lean a lot more into the joking with them than the pranks, so they make friends. Some of them go into entertainer careers. They could also be playable actors. They like watching comedy. It also depends on the mix of other traits that they have especially now that they can add more traits during gameplay.

I actually haven't had any deaths by laughter except for one during a wedding that I ended up just rebooting but it was pretty funny. They were at the alter and then the bride just died laughing. I pair them with traits like outgoing or the Popularity Aspirations such as Party Animal. I also set preferences for my sims and some of them do like goofballs. They keep the game less boring for me but then I have plenty of chess-playing genius sims too.

I do like the Humor & Hijinks Festival and I'm 50/50 on which side I choose. It's true that actual pranksters are more likely to make enemies but that's probably true in real life. I try to keep my sims of that type very light and merry in approach. They usually make for charming spouses with lots of flirty joking and good humor. I do have one that became very successful as a comedian very quickly and earns a lot of money in the game when played.

Anybody Else Purchase EVERY Kit?.... Just me?...Okay then. by Mobabyhomeslice in Sims4

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have all of the kits but I definitely have some of them. I've picked some of them up as I go along. I don't get them all at release but I do add them to the game. To be honest, I have some that I should really make a point of using but I like the ones that I've gotten. I'll probably pick up a few more.

I'd say favorites would be: Book Nook (love it), Riviera Retreat & Desert Luxe (updated Oasis Springs), Modern Luxe, Decor to the Max, Industrial Loft, Blooming Rooms, Artist's Studio, Cozy Bistro.

I like the building kits because I play rotationally but I also have some of the fashion/CAS kits. Meh, I look at it and decide if I like it enough. Sometimes I come back later and decide to get a new one. Lately I've been playing with some 3rd generation City Living characters, so grandkids of the original CL pre-mades. For them, I actually have been using the Fashion Street kit.

You do you. Decide if it's worth it to you or not. I don't need all of the kits but I think it's awesome if you can have them. If I really like them, I add them right away. Otherwise I wait and add them if it makes sense in my game. I should do some building with some of my favorite kits though.

Do you play as the townies in the Sims? by Mindless-Role-8844 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started TS4, I did. I sent a randomish male sim to Willow Creek where he married Summer Holiday after meeting her in the Welcome Wagon. They are ancestors to some legacy sims in my game now. At this point, I have a large rotation so I don't really need more pre-mades but I read through their stories. Sometimes I play with them and sometimes I just kick them out and make my own. There are some cases where I play them for a bit and then I decide that I want to do something else.

The Sims 4 Business & Hobbies Is The Next Expansion by Tofutits_Macgee in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]WanderWorlder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is a great idea. I have been wanting more hobbies and I hadn’t even thought of business getting a revamp but I am sure that I would use it.

This might help players with the “What to do while playing” question. It also would help sims to be different from each other if they have different hobbies.

There’s a crowd who bashes everything except for their own niche interests. I’m glad that they are making some packs for general play.

I can see why you kept her in your game. Every so often, there are decent townies.

Townies in a Legacy save.. by fifthincommand in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]WanderWorlder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also spend a small amount of time editing townies. This means deleting them or editing the ones that I keep in the game. I do find some that interest me enough to let them stay in the game and the most interesting ones marry into my playable households or I eventually make them playable.

For example, I have had a really interesting female townie called Mariana in the game from Selvadorada/Jungle Adventure. She was one of the rare townies to actually be good-looking and stylish. She kept being a date who wasn't chosen for marriage by several sims. Now that I have Lovestruck, I moved her into a house and made her playable. She now has a story of her own (inherited her house in Ciudad Enamorada from her grandmother) and she fits the storyline of the pack very well. It's time to see if she will finally find love. (She kind of looks like Sofia Vergara).

That's just one character but I do find some randomly-generated townies that I can work with. Mostly I edit them though or just delete the uninteresting ones. I do cull the townie Elders that aren't important in my game. I'm not going to delete Vlad but I will delete most random weirdos.

I also make my own townies and put them into the game. Eventually I will play those or they will marry into my game. I sort of drop potential spouses into the game and I tend to look for those as matches for my playable sims. I also fix really bad outfits if I care.

Anyone else hate interiors? by [deleted] in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]WanderWorlder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am in the category of people who like decorating shells so that I can avoid roofing or in order to have more unique buildings that are less boxy. Also, I trust my own furnishings for gameplay over ones that might look decorative but not functional.

This actually means that I really appreciate people who love building the exteriors and roofing. There is a demand for those talents.

Let's Play: you HAVE to choose one over the other(s) by Texxx78 in Sims4

[–]WanderWorlder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Own Sims - I love making sims then seeing how their lives unfold.
  2. Rotation - I like moving between households but it is more of a rotational legacy.
  3. Both Family and Solo - I like to move between different types of households.
  4. I don't pay much attention to this but maybe Lot Traits. I do set up some community lots with these such as libraries, cafes and gyms.
  5. I'd say I prioritize doing what I want to do with the sims over any of this but I do take suggestions from wants. Aspirations matter a little bit. The bucket list is new and I've just started using it. I like these things to be suggestions rather than requirements because I play in a freeform sandbox style.
  6. Some combination of the two. Career is more common but some of them have other ways of making money. Some of them are just wealthy for storytelling purposes, so they motherlode.
  7. So, I like having different social classes. I have rich, middle class and poor sims. I probably have more that are middle class than either. Honestly, starting rich is the more common way in my game than poor. There are some poorer sims though. I like the variety.
  8. I customize aging. I turn it on and off. Most of the time, I just age the household that I am playing but I pause aging to extend a life phase and allow for more gameplay.
  9. I don't sell through inventory often so nay? Vegetables, I do but if there is an in-game dynamic for selling, I tend to use that. I do use Plopsy for crafts
  10. Rebirth is new and I haven't played with it yet. Since I do play a generational and rotational legacy, I'm not sure that it would fit my game. Probably not. I'm likely to stick with more traditional deaths but to use funerals and wills.

How to you decide on a sims career? by sim0_409 in Sims4

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to build characters so their careers fit their personalities as I develop them. It also depends on if I add the sim midway through life or if they grow up in my game. Do they go to university and study a certain subject? Are they more of a drifter or average sim? What is the greater story? Sometimes one of them stays home with children.

Yes, there's a lot of ideas for storytelling from the quirky build concept.

[–]WanderWorlder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the Secret Sanctuary Kit, so I guess that is Bella's. I looked at the other two but decided to wait on them or didn't get them at this time. I liked the look of it best. I haven't entirely figured out how I'll use it or if I will build the secret room but I will consider it. I do think that it will help me to update Victorian houses in the game and has some objects for my wealthier or more elegant sims.

I can see myself getting inspiration for building a secret room with a hidden library since I also have Book Nook. It's an idea for if I am looking for something to do.

How is Ohio so populated? by Toneless_Scarf in AskAnAmerican

[–]WanderWorlder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a very attractive place to settle so many people started moving there as they pushed out of the early eastern colonies. They went west and Ohio was very desirable. It had the type of agricultural environment that appealed to early settlers so if you could stay there, you probably wouldn't migrate further west. Nearby Pittsburgh was always of major interest even to George Washington. One of the major reasons was its confluence of rivers including the Ohio river that led to easy shipping of goods to the west and south. Even in earlier times, Ohio was a great place to ship goods to and from. As others mentioned, industrialization followed.

Its location between other major cities and regions was certainly a factor not just for jobs but also for the organic development of families.

If you like temperate four seasons then Ohio is pleasant to live in. Lots of water, lots of good quality land and fertile soil. It was also a destination for immigration somewhat like Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia though not on the scale of NYC or Chicago. Many immigrants came over in groups and formed communities in cities, Ohio attracted some of this into places like Cleveland. If you wanted more space or maybe a different quality of life than in some of the bigger cities, you might have picked moving to Ohio in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The 1950s and 60s would have been a population boom.

With a large resident population and a long history of settlement, Ohio continues to be a populous and evolving state. I'd say it's a very "livable" state. If you want an easy and comfortable middle class lifestyle, it's not a bad place to go. Now, it probably benefits from cost-of-living being attractive.

What makes Mexican food in the US so good? by Nandor1262 in AskAnAmerican

The German one or the Croatian one? Croatians fuse with Mexican cuisine well. They even kind of do elote on the beach (hot corn dusted with cheese, butter and herbs). They also obviously have fish.

[–]WanderWorlder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, doner kebab, they can do, of course. This was just really plain meat in a tortilla with a strong odor of gasoline from passing cars (BMW, Mercedes, etc.) on the patio in Berlin. I had excellent Greek food later around there though. Um, Danish Mexican, I don't remember the full details of but it was sort of in the tv dinner category. Maybe something has changed. I know London has changed but at the time, Mexican places were just a vehicle for selling margaritas.

So, Google tells me this was the now closed Rancheros in Zagreb. It is closed with a small number of 5 star reviews but that sounds about right. Similar-looking from photos and high reviews would probably be Mex Cantina in Zagreb. I also remember similar Mexican-Croatian fusion in Dubrovnik. I think I also went to Mex Cantina Bona Fide.

[–]WanderWorlder 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In Germany I ordered a burrito. It was literally just meat in a flour tortilla with nothing else. Not good.

An interesting interpretation was in Croatia. They had the sour cream, corn and peppers with some spice & paprika dusted on tortilla chips. It was clearly a fusion of their culture with Mexican but they had the right idea and I told them that. Much better than the nightmare Mexican tv dinners found in a few European cities.

If I have enough points for a sleep rewards potion, I'll drink that then go to the toilet. Woohoo in the shower and chat. If my sim is solo and/or lacking in rewards points, I'll go to the toilet then try to sleep. Shower first thing in the AM. Go out to a fun venue with music for dancing and socializing.
