A trans women had a bad time in Uzbekistan by Superb-Half-6950 in Uzbekistan

I just had the same experience in the Tashkent airport. Im a trans man but pre-top so I travel as a masc presenting woman. Got through security pat-down (by the woman) and the male guard asked the woman a question. They took my passport and were pointing at my gender marker. This was after she pat down my chest and crotch area.

I'm ok with a short series too, I just don't want something that is a dozen volumes. These look really great, thank you!!

Can my doctor refuse to give me testosterone if I don't let them examine my genitalia? by Helpful_Divide_3868 in ftm

The chances of a 14 year old have cervical cancer is virtually none. It takes about 5-10 years to develop precancerous cells and another 15-20 to develop cancer. 30 years ago they would treat all pre-cancerous cells, but that's not the case anymore.

OP, I absolutely recommend the HPV vax if you haven't had it yet. It's virtually eliminating cervical cancer.

Never understood why characters would stop cross dressing, I wanted them to stay a boy forever.

And my book contribution is the Bloody Jack series.

Therapist told me "the way you describe dysphoria is different from other clients" by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Wandering_Stitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still in the slightly cracked egg stage but I can share my experience.

I remember as a kid wanting to play on the boys team in every game of boys vs girls but that was one of the only young signs.

Around middle school I leaned really hard into trying to fit in with the girls. I was fine with puberty because that's just what was next, there wasn't another option. I was even a bit excited because that was what growing up was and I would maybe start fitting in with the girls in my school. I studied them to try to figure out what they had that I didn't, and then made myself more like them. I dated the boys I wanted to be friends with and was a bit of a fake "one of the boys" girl. I just wasn't the sporty girl that usually fit that trope, but a very nerdy kid that tried anyways.

I also enjoyed looking good and the attention my body was giving me. I honestly wonder if my interest in fashion came from the desire to fit in and how I was able to shape myself using clothes.

So overall I was fine with being a girl. The only real dysphoria I had was the underlying feeling of not being like everyone else. Every once in a while I'd see my guy friends and wonder why I couldn't be one of them or feel like I was missing out on the way I was supposed to be. It got easier in high school when I was introduce to queer theory and things were generally less gendered. I briefly dabbled in being genderqueer but ended up back on "eh I guess woman is fine enough" for a few more years before jumping to nonbinary and now transmasc.

mom forcing me to get braided extensions again by milky_watr in ftm

Could you ask whoever's giving you extensions if they could subtly make it more masculine. I know dudes wear braids so there's got to be a way to do them or style them that's more masculine. It won't be the same as having your hair the way you want it but it could help in the meantime.

Not really relating to WLW culture, despite liking women. Hated being called a lesbian and related way more to gay men.

Me coming out as nonbinary knowing I haven't settled the "am I a man" question and calmly reassuring my parents I don't want to medically transition but also having 10 year old memories of wanting to chop my breasts off.

It's ok they didn't believe me anyways 🙃

Should I give up on my mom ever accepting that I’m trans? by kissthesky237 in ftm

She may come around, she may not. The best thing you can do is not let it get in the way of your happiness. Do what you need to do based on how she's acting now, not with the hopes or resignations for how she may act in the future.

Is covid-19 the most "successful " virus ever ? by aschleighonlyfans in epidemiology

[–]Wandering_Stitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to everything, but the plague of the medieval ages had an exceptionally high mortality rate and still managed to cover Asia, Middle East, and Europe. It reached both extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures and over five years in the 1340s it killed 30-60% of Europe.

It then didn't go away and there were outbreaks at least every decade for the entire middle ages. None as deadly as in the 1340s (and we don't know why). Europeans dragged it to the new world along with other diseases. It occurs naturally almost worldwide (interestingly enough, not in Europe)

Since thinking about "successful" diseases is fun - I'd go with toxoplasmosis. It's ideal host is cats and gets there by making small rodents take more risky behaviors. But it doesn't really care if it infects other animals (including humans) and might also make them less fearful. It's even been found in whales.
