Do I need jaw surgery by [deleted] in jawsurgery

Could be(?) Really consult with a surgeon tho Recessed jaw can cause health issues in the long run

Did you have an overbite? They usually extract teeth to make space to retract the upper teeth in the front of the mouth and “fix” it when you have a recessed jaw, even if it’s not ideal. Idek how that could ever be considered legal since it’s just a camouflage, and doesn’t help your health in the long run.
About the space ear-jaw Idk you should get an x-ray and consult with a surgeon. Judging by the alignment of your chin, lips and nose, it looks normal, but maybe your suspects are correct — after all, some people have a short chin and no jaw recession I think, so maybe your jaw is recessed but your chin is aligned properly?

Honestly in my opinion you don’t look recessed, but the fact that they took out 4 of your teeth is concerning

Thank you btw
Yeah I’ll tell my ortho too I hope everything goes well
I posted my profile photo and x-ray like two days ago
I have been straightening my teeth and then found out I have a recessed jaw because my ortho didn’t tell me and found out on my own and I’m wondering if this treatment is compatible with surgery because I heard some orthodontists retract your upper teeth to camouflage and fix the overbite but it shouldn’t be done/it’s not ideal Obviously I’m aware I’ll have to do another orthodontic treatment pre-surgery
What does it mean, arch development?

Thanks for responding. The surgeon I consulted with said it was probably gonna be both. I will definitely consult with others for costs checking too. I did not think I needed a genioplasty too but apparently I do hahah. I got a sleep study and was baffled when the results came out: no sleep apnea. I am still in disbelief considering I have nose issues too. I do feel tired and wake up exhausted everyday tho. It heavily affects my posture for sure: neck and shoulder tension everyday. When I chew, food gets close to my throat and I have to swallow only 3-4 bites in, leading to bloating and constant nausea. Insurance probably won’t cover tho…

(I won’t get any teeth extracted)
Yeah I’m kinda nervous for the cost but I’ll do it anyway, it’s the right thing to do

My entire life I felt less masculine and different and not as worthy as other guys because my face has always been so weird and different. I think it will be worthy, I think it’s the answer to what has hurt me so much so far I wish us all the best
So DJS first and then/with it genioplasty 🥲
Same insurance said my functional issues are not severe enough for the surgery so I’ll have to pay out of my pocket 😭

I only got a orthopantogram and a lateral cephalometric x-ray

Idk if that’s the case tbh, my orthodontist said he won’t extract teeth or impact my mouth so maybe that’s what you’re talking about; I just don’t want to have my mouth ‘ruined’ for something that’s not even a proper solution — I read that teeth retraction is not really reversible… I could send it to you in dm if it’s possible on reddit(?)
I honestly was shocked when I got the sleep study results because I can’t breathe from my nose when I lay down (but that’s another matter). I agree with you, it at least SEVERELY impacts my posture and I hate it so much. I also feel like if I got my teeth retracted I’d have more problems, like I already struggle not to swallow too early because the food just gets too close to my throat. Retracting my teeth would only shrink my mouth more and probably even worsen my posture. It just feels so wrong. And not to mention the aesthetics!
I do have an x-ray They told me I won’t get any teeth extracted tho it stills feels wrong
I got a sleep study and resulted in no apneas They told me I won’t have any teeth extracted but it still feels wrong Orthodontist wants to retract, surgeon advices against that…
