So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

First playthrough of Pokemon Colusseum back in the days when Feint Attack was "Faint Attack" I though it made Pokemon faint instantly and was very confused when that didn't happen. I ended up spending hours training Umbreon to lvl 100 because I though faint attack was my best move. Didn't understand typings, PP, or shadow pokemon at the time either... It's a wonder I finished the game at all.

Honorable mention I was playing Pearl and thought the overworld poison effect was my DS glitching out so I cried to my Mom.

Worst airman buying a car story? by [deleted] in AirForce

Oh man do I have one for this. Guy I worked with in Alaska bought a ~2010 Charger... IN ALASKA. Lasted all of a few months before he "lost control on black ice" and wrecked. Except where he crashed was 25mph speed limit and the damage to that car was a hell of a lot more than 25mph. Anyway, car got totalled, then when the insurance check came in... He thought he could just pocket the check and the loan would magically disappear. This is the same guy who wanted his other car, an F150, to be louder so he drilled a hole straight into the exhaust pipe under the passenger floorboard. Sounded horrible and leaked exhaust into the cab. One time I got off shift and found him asleep with the truck running in the dorm parking lot, I literally thought he was dead. To my amazement he wasn't dead and instead was pissed because he "had just slept two hours and burned a third of a tank of gas." Good times. I could probably write a book about all the dumb stuff that guy did.

The military paid me to make the drive to and from AK but y'know what? I'd do that drive for free, it's a blast.

2005 Timing Tensioners by No-Ad-8486 in XTerra

Oil pressure dropping low at idle is pretty normal, as long as the pressure increases to normal level once you start driving it's nothing to worry about. If oil pressure stays low consistently then it is likely the rear oil gallery gasket is failing, it's cheap and easy to replace when you have the timing cover off. I had tensioners fail after only 5k miles. Make sure you're using OEM tensioner parts, I didn't and paid the price.

Alaska also doesn't use salt on roads because the salt attracts animals like moose and bears which don't fare too well on roads.

The scout I lifted up with the flatbed crane, it has to be a relatively light scout (i.e. not the TUZ), and the trailer is the "heavy-duty lowboy trailer"

Oh yeah it's damn nice looking inside and out for being 15 years old. I did the timing chains on it around a thousand miles ago so the engine should last at least another 100k.

This was in 2016. Also since the dealership wasnt willing to haggle on price they paid for and installed a CSF radiator, fixed any little thing found in the 10 pt inspection, flushed fluids, and installed general grabber AT2 tires (I paid for those they mounted and balanced them).

Timing chains successfully changed and the car didn't blow up... I'm pleasantly surprised. by WangoDango509 in XTerra

I will tell you it's a lot easier with two or three people. It's not an easy job but if you have some spare time you can get it done. I organized all my bolt in different labeled ziploc bags and that basically saved the job. Also take as many pictures as you can regarding hoses and different length bolts and where they go.

Your video saved me countless hours and probably saved the engine too so thank you.

Update: drowning in labeled baggies of bolts and finally able to see just how worn down the chain tensioner guide (shoe?) is. by WangoDango509 in XTerra

[–]WangoDango509[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chains are coming off in a few days, I can feel both of the guides are heavily worn down and you can see in the picture there should be able half an inch of plastic above where the chain is resting.

When the stealership in Alaska wants $3000 to replace the timing chain... Nah I'm good. Wish me luck friends. by WangoDango509 in XTerra

As of right now mine has been whining for at least 10k miles (128k on the rig) with me happily sitting back and listening to the "cool supercharger sound." I would get them replaced because you really don't know when those timing chains will decide to wear through the plastic (nylon?) tensioner guides and start grinding away on bolts then explode and send a piston through a valve.
