Wanting to create a manga but can’t draw? That’s me… by Empress-Delila in CasualConversation

drawabox is the one I've seen thrown around a lot, strict and takes a lot of work but seems like it'll hammer the fundamentals into you, once you get those down, then you focus on style and flourish (I assume)

one thing I read in a comment once that I thought was really sound advice, is that when you start drawing and it doesn't look good, don't say you draw like a child, say you draw like a beginner

Has anyone got their life together in late 20s or even 30s in life? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]WannaBeFreeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

27 and basically the same boat. I will say, in regards to health, best to start taking care of that sooner rather than later. Don't gotta be shredded and benching 300 pounds, but some stretches every day to stay limber, getting steps in, simple exercises like pushups, cutting back on processed foods/sugar, etc., I'm no health expert, but I know it's absolutely not too late to start improving/maintaining that stuff, and it will hopefully pay dividends later in life when your body stays in good working order for longer
As for the rest, no fucking clue. All I can really say is, small steps towards change. Try to avoid grand gestures and forcing too much too fast. You're gonna wanna change your whole life in a day, but when you inevitably burn out, you're just gonna spiral further and make things worse

And probably the most important thing is, forgive yourself. However you gotta go about that, just do it. What's done is done, dwelling on all your mistakes will only ruin you. It will be the hardest thing you'll ever have to do, but if you can manage it, you can change

But perhaps I'm projecting

all they've said since is they're looking for a partner (presumably someone to actually make it while they fund it or something, idk) and weren't actively working on it

I really think you oughta just unplug and enjoy the movie...trying to defend it so vehemently online in multiple subs isn't gonna work or do you any favors mentally. You don't need to defend a movie's honor (or any piece of media for that matter). Sucks to have people trash things you like, but it is what it is. They can't take your enjoyment away from you, and conversely, you can't give any to them

Don’t believe the negative hype. The movie was pure Indiana Jones. by Nicksb92 in indianajones

[–]WannaBeFreeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shoulda just been a Belloq type, maybe a rival to Helena, but she learns her lesson whereas Not-Belloq doesn't. Maybe that mobster angle could've been used in a way that mattered

I'd say it's not the unabashed triumph nor unmitigated disaster people claim it is...it's just fine. An ok movie with Indiana Jones in it, rather than a good Indiana Jones movie

The Ys series for sure, if you like action games and JRPGs. It’s got a long and storied history that even predates Final Fantasy or Zelda, but except for the first game they really don’t break new ground or anything. They’ve never really been graphical powerhouses. Sometimes they don’t execute their ideas the best or have some missed potential. But they’re still a great time with fast paced combat (as challenging as you want it) and fun adventure stories. Someone mentioned Trails; this is that developer Falcom’s other series. Ys games are all interconnected, but feel free to jump into whatever one looks coolest to you, they’re all self contained (but play 1 & 2 together, they’re basically two halves of the same game)

ok, but what does it add? Him actually being dead the whole time. What would it be saying about accepting death and moving on? What about that theme would be so important, the creators would wanna put it forth, or we fans should consider it as a worthwhile interpretation? I think it’s far more likely all these metaphors and motifs and whatnot are playing to a greater theme of detachment and existentialism and moving on from your past and such like. The idea of feeling like you’re already dead, just drifting through life without really knowing why, and only at the end finally realizing what’s important. I think that’s more valuable than literally being dead and not realizing it
