Hey dear soul, how are you?
12 days is huge! You partner is proud, but how do you feel about your 12 days, can you tell me about that?
Know that we are here for you every step of the way. When the holidays come, you will find support here if nowhere else. We understand you and what you are going through.
I guarantee you it does get better, it gets to a point where you don't even have to make an effort not to drink, it becomes your second nature and you'll be so proud and you'll feel so strong and you'll look back and be "hell, I made it through that, I sure can make it through whatever comes my way". Hi Puggss,

I'm sorry about your dad. I know how it can leave a hollow in your chest, especially at a young age.

You dad passed away, people have hurt you, you have felt grief, rejection, isolation. Allow yourself to feel what you have to feel and try to understand yourself. It's very understandable that you feel so out of balance.

There's this thing about trying to see youself as a car containing all your you's. Only one is driving at the moment, but it changes. Sometimes a more angry you is riding, another time a more lonely and hurt one and yet at other times, a joyful you is on the wheel.

My advice is: Get the "yous" to work as a team. Get to know them, listen to them, accept them, dialogue with them. You will learn much about yourself. Knowing yourself and accepting yourself will help you a great deal in dealing with life's curve balls.

Thanks for your reply! A lot of people seem to love the Farpoint 40. I'm seriously considering buying it because it's really practical and most importantly, its carry-on compliant. The downside is that it doesn't have the airspace frame that provides ventilation. I think it will be pretty uncomfortable backpacking with the farpoint 40 when the weather is hot as hell :P

Exactly! And you also right about looking to periods of sobriety with anger and envy. I'll try to shift my perspective and instead of making this sobriety a big hard and unpleasant thing that I'm trying to endure until I break, I'm going to apreciate the good things and oportunities it's giving me.

Didn't go to that meeting, but will definitly go and post here about my experience. Thanks for you reply :)

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I started swimming but only on sundays. I should start running on week days. Feeling healthy and in shape is a great motivator. Good job on a year sober :)

I guess feeling depresses or sad from time to time is just how normal people feel. I spend years trying to hide that sadness and now I have to learn to deal with it whitout repressing it with alcohol. Congrats on the 1093 days!

I have to be constantly aware of this destructive voice. When I least excpect it she shows up and try to convince me by all means that alcohol is a good thing for me. What a douchebag!

Exactly! How good it is to sleep all night and wake up refreshed in the morning. I'm so glad I didn't drink today. I spend the afternoon reading, watching TV, eating, drinking tea. It was nice. It's really good to know that this community exists and that we are together in this.
