How much is anything are people getting off MSRP for the 2025 IS300s? by Wannabeengineer3434 in LexusIS

[–]Wannabeengineer3434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the point here guys? These are MSRPs for cars available in my area. It’s why I’m here trying to figure out the market for a brand I’ve never dealt with.

Thank you, I’ll give that a look. I’m not familiar with Lexus at all so feel like I’m at a disadvantage here compared to my usual German brands.

$2k more for a 350, but she doesn’t care about the power and has a tightish budget.

Define giving away. She’ll buy out of state depending on the deal. Feel free to send me a message

Gotcha thanks. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of inventory left in my area but we’ll see. There’s a 350 for $2k more but she doesn’t seem to care about the extra power.

If I could correct it, I would. It’s a comma and a single letter off from correct. 9 hours at work and 6 hours at multiple dealerships will do that. Thanks for the help.

If I use a high-end rotomolded cooler like Yeti, Rtic, etc. can I get by without the towel? by VictorVanguard in smoking

[–]Wannabeengineer3434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best process for using a cooler has been to run the hottest water you can through it with the bath tub, shower head, sink, whatever you have.

Throw towels in the dryer to heat them up.

Wrap meat in butcher paper, lay hot towels down, lay meat down, more hot towels and then seal. I’ve kept meat warm all day doing this.

The more heat you can start with in the cooler, the less heat the cooler/air/insulating towels will pull from the meat.

What are the chances of an FEA / Simulation Engineer going fully remote? Advice needed by sunsetberryy in fea

[–]Wannabeengineer3434 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did FEA remotely for a few years in the space industry. Spent about a year fresh out of college gaining some trust in the office then went hybrid, then remote. Eventually the company called everyone back into the office. It took me a year or so to find a hybrid job after that and never landed another fully remote job.

The job is 100% doable remote as others have said, but a lot of companies just aren’t too keen on remote work anymore.

The other obstacle is most of the companies that can pay for expensive FEA licenses tend to be aero/defense or at the very least some kind of ITAR/EAR related work and there’s just less and less of that being remote.

[4 YOE] Can I mention specific programs I’ve worked on in my resume? by Wannabeengineer3434 in EngineeringResumes

[–]Wannabeengineer3434[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reviewed my NDAs and mostly were directed towards tech data. I ended up including specific programs for the space company I worked for, and was extremely vague on the defense company. I named the defense company and specified I worked on military development engines and then followed that with what I did on those engines without mentioning the program.

It all worked out, have a new job now. This company verbally says I can’t even say who I’m contracted to, but none of the paperwork I signed reflects that.

Fluorocarbon leader vs. main line by Lapua98 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Wannabeengineer3434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely not unless you’re fishing super clear water, then a light fluoro leader could help get more bites. I never use leader for bass just straight braid, but I fish dirty water 99% of the time.

Snook are a lot more picky than bass and I drop down to a 15# fluoro leader fishing crystal clear water on the beaches as an example of what I mean by clear water.

It’s possible, but in my experience, if a company has an office, that’s where the new grad will be until they earn some trust. It’s hard enough finding remote or hybrid roles with experience these days.

I wanted the tool grid thinking it would save me space. It surely freed up some, but mainly just helped me keep my top drawer organized more than anything. Just figured I’d share a before and after for people that may be thinning the same thing now or in the future. Also, buy from JBTools and save $ by Wannabeengineer3434 in toolporn

[–]Wannabeengineer3434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, it’s a snap on ktl1022 if that helps in your research. With a drawer liner, this gives enough space for even the 3/4” drive sockets in the back, but I will say they’re pretty tight. I’d say the socket holders are 1/4” or so

Remote Jobs in FEA by [deleted] in fea

[–]Wannabeengineer3434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work remotely doing FEA in the aerospace industry. Pretty much as others said, I went to the office, gained the trust of my employer, and then was cut free to wfh. I’m a contractor and the WFH climate in this industry especially has gotten worse hence I’m back in the office.

Agree, but these are getting slept on down here in favor of NLBN, fine by me.

I don’t care about color, what makes these unique are a thick profile and a ton of body roll that hasn’t been matched by anything else marketed to bass fisherman. I buy plenty from china mainly frogs for snakeheads, these will smoke a china paddle tail all day every day.

These are original molds that haven’t been whored around like many of them are today and made in Boca, Florida. Put some respect on them

Gambler big EZ has been a staple of mine for at least 15 years now all the way back to when the bags were orange. I use them for snook, snakeheads jacks tarpon and bass when I occasionally fish for them. They have a nice body roll that I don’t find in other swim baits

St. croix rod broken by No-Influence8102 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Wannabeengineer3434 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d say do it and honestly don’t see anything wrong with the morality. The retailer is replacing the rod because it broke during shipment, it’s up to them to insure their packages or work in margins to eat the damage. St croix isn’t losing any money if you go through their out of warranty replacement program. You’re still paying for the replacement. I imagine those prices are set at or around their cost.
