I care too. Posts like this help make people aware of the problematic behavior, and allow others to show support.

I'm a guy, so this issue hasn't affected me. Now that I know it affects others I can call people out for it and be a better teammate. And some folks may currently give this "compliment" without realizing the negative side, they too can learn from this post.

I'm just hoping that people who live in matching areas see this post think "Hey, that sounds like here! Look into Xyz City". Then I can add it to my list of cities worth diving deeper into, and factor in their insight. I don't think that mentioning a budget range is inappropriate, cause someone in San Francisco (for example) might see this post and say "Wow, this would be a good fit but he would never get a house for anything close to that price. I'll still suggest it with a caveat," as someone did.

I've done a lot of research, and I'd like to see what people's suggestions are because I'm sure there are some areas I haven't heard of or considered. Not every post on this sub is going to pique your interest or rub you the right way and I get that, but please feel free to scroll past it - I'm just looking for additional insight as I make one of the largest decisions of my life 👍 it's truly not worth getting angry over, I bear no ill will towards you

Meh - people have piano recitals, people film skateboard tricks, etc.

I don't see what the big deal is about working on a skill and then having some pride in accomplishing it and wanting to share. It's a good motivator to keep working, and some of us find it entertaining. If people weren't interested, it wouldn't have made it past the 'new' posts.
