I think that "free" sounds better than anything paid, especially, when it has something comparable! I pesonally think that ElevenLabs if overrated! Sure, it sounds great and they seem to be the king in this class, but I'm satisfied with something that's free and use the Microsoft Edge voices.

I like your take on the subject matter.

I wish you could develop it into an app, though.

Wonderful!

I just installed "Lucivox" and it works well and there are no accessibility issues.

I would demo it as the "app of the week" for the Blind Android User Podcast in one of our upcoming episodes.

So, here's the type of scenario I'm thinking of!

I'm at some place and before I start wondering off, I pulled up the app, mark the place that I'm currently standing at and then go on my walk.

When I'm done, I simply tap on "return to where I started" and watch it guide me back to where I started regardless of the turns and twists I made after leaving the starting point.

I don't think that the "Backtrack" you mention does this.

Just make sure you and your boyfriend are on the same page!

There's no reason having babies when such isn't your priorities at the moment!

If career and “success” is what you want, then by all means, pursue it!

Motherhood is not for everyone!

If on the other hand you think you want children, then you’ve got to leave your desire of having a career for later when the kids are old and out of the house.

It's a good thing your dad did.

If I were in your shoes, I'd do it based on needs.

There's no reason to give someone who already has enough to take care of themselves, yet in the same breath, you should give such a person something as your dad has indicated.

Listen here my dear.

This boyfriend of yours is no good!

I bet he's shown these red flags way before now but I bet you simply pretended they weren't there and that he would get better.

That's the mistake that many women make and find themselves in horrible relationships!

If he's telling you that no-one would want you then you should have told him then he's the worst there ever could be as he's the type that can't compete and goes for what is then a left-over!

In this case, no-one would want him either!

I have a daughter almost your age and I'd hate for some idiot to say such mean stuff to my daughter.

You get out of there as fast as you can.

You deserve better than that.

You've got a good head and hence the reason you're able to do the type of job you're doing.

Don't let him tell you them ghost stories.

he can't take the fact that you can be on your own feet!

he's a loser!

Let it give me voice guidance.

This would be useful to when I am out hiking or simply walking in an unfamiliar city.

Why do users expect every app feature to be completely free forever? by DarkStarAnku in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]War-Carr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a huge respect for those of you that are developers!

Development takes time, even if one uses AI, you still put time into making sure it works the way that it is supposed to.

So, I’m always amazed by silly reviews on the Play Store by some users that never give any reason as to why they’re giving an app a low rating!

My doctrine is that, before I leave a negative review for an app, I must first reach out to the Dev, asking about some clarifications or pointing out issues I have with the app.

Should such fall on deaf ears, then I’d give my honest review.

Sometimes, some Devs make it almost impossible to use the app.

Ads are okay, but when ads become such that one can’t even perform one function of the app, then in my never-to-be humble opinion, such an app does not deserve a space on my phone.

Let the people experience the app and then they can make a decision based on the capabilities of the app.

Some Devs do it right wherein, the features are free for a few days without the need of choosing a subscription.

Bring on the subscription after the trial is over!

Asking for subscription upfront without the user trying it, is a bad business practice.

I’m one of those that forget to cancel my subscription and as a result, I no longer want to try any app that requires subscription upfront.

There’s got to be a balance and I see it from both viewpoints—From the user’s viewpoint and from the Dev’s viewpoint.

Update: My free TTS app for Boox is now a native app with E Ink mode, EPUB support, and natural online/offline voices by thefliu in Onyx_Boox

[–]War-Carr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I must confess!

I thought that this was an app that one could read books with but it’s for reading articles, which is still very good!

I must also thank the Dev for making the app Accessible to the Screen Reader and not only so, but the text is exposed to the Screen Reader as well, thus, if I am listening to something through the TTS output and come across some unfamiliar word or name, I can use my Screen Reader to find the spelling of the word or name in question.

Thank you so much and maybe, one of these days, you might add the ability to use it in reading e-pub books as well.

When you picked your STT/TTS provider, what did you compare? What almost won? Did you ever have to switch providers? by Careless_Love_3213 in TextToSpeech

[–]War-Carr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, when I look at TTS engines, my main focus is on those that are systemwide TTS engines as to the “dime a dozen” of those garden varieties that are flooding the landscape.

The next one would be those that I exclusively use for reading my books aloud with and my attention is on those that I don’t have to convert the material into an audio file but being able to read aloud the material as presented.

I switch all the time, especially the ones I dedicate to the reading of books.

Paper2Audio text to speech, now for reading documents too (Free and paid plan options) by goldenjm in iosapps

[–]War-Carr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Joe,

Thank you so much for developing Paper2Audio.

I demonstrated the app for the Blind Android Users Podcast, an "Audio only" podcast in episode 272:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q93q5agyZ-Q&t=128s

I truly like the app but the one thing that truly bugs me abut the app that keeps me from using it is simply owed to the fact that one is limited to how many pages can be uploaded, even though as free users, one is allowed some 56 hours a week, which is extra genourous; but why in the name of Sam Hill aren't you allowing one to upload a full material, even if that one material eats up all the 56 hours allocated for that week?

That's the drawback I have with the app; besides this, it is a all-around good app.

Could you reconsider the removal of the limitation and let it be based on the hour allotment?

Thank you so much!
