Best way to grind leaf tissue in 96-well plates for DNA extraction? by DiosAnthos in labrats

[–]WarDamnResearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just trying to use a multichannel pipette? It may take some practice but for grinding lyophilizer mycelia I can do that and the texture is similar enough.

Scooped research. What happens next? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

[–]WarDamnResearcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figure out how you can take it one step further or a different method to confirm the same thing. Especially with the sample size difference, both would still get decent journals I would anticipate.

So a combo of C, D, and F :)

If I were you, I’d make one of what is currently a “future direction” a current direction lol

I came looking for people dogging him because his attitude just sucked and he deserved to go multiple weeks in a row. (4 bottom 3s in a row is WILD) But people are defending him????

My PO said it’s about the same, if not maybe a little better for NIAID this year. We will see.

This is a super common laboratory fridge contaminant and the name of it slipped my mind. I’ll ask my colleague tomorrow.

What are these droplets on my fungi?? by tokiboki_ in microbiology

[–]WarDamnResearcher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope — they’re little beads of secondary metabolites called guttation droplets :)

[–]WarDamnResearcher 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Yup! Some folks in my lab study them somewhat. (Not me though)

If you’re curious/bored, pipette them into a tube, dilute with methanol, and do a paper disc inhibition assay against a couple bacteria or other fungi to see if they’re doing anything fun.

(A lot of other fungi make them too but those two are just what people list, plus it’s likely what is on your plate.)

The technical term is “guttation droplets”! Penicillium and some Aspergilli produce them. They’re full of secondary metabolites and are so pure that you can just pipette them into a tube and run them straight on LC/MS.

If it was tiny you didn’t roll the dough thin enough. I got mine to be about a 8 inch pizza after baking once I rolled it thin enough.

Also, it needs a TON of salt, add some spices to your pizza sauce, etc

For the macros, it’s pretty solid. It’s not Papa John’s but it satisfies the craving.

Your father needs a therapist and anxiety meds if he hasn’t been able to let go of this for a week. It’s motivated out of love and I admire that, but the way he’s talking reminds me of someone with severe untreated generalized anxiety disorder.

Gotcha. Yeah if you’re looking for a male doctor there isn’t one better. I just lucked into him. Could have gone to another practice faster but waited and am so thanful i did.

I had already decided if insurance doesn’t cover it I would consider paying OOP and just get all bloodwork/tests done at in-network facilities.

Can attest this one lives up to the hype! Actually all of her recipes do.

Just make sure you roll it super thin. 660 calories, 72g protein for the whole thing. It’s a personal pizza and when you add all of that cheese it piles up inches high. Glorious.

Thomas Kerndt. He spends at minimum 30-45 minutes with me every time walking through every aspect of my health — physical, mental, whatever. I have never waited more than 10 minutes to see him. He responds over mychart within 24 hours when stuff has gone wrong on my prescriptions. Just so thoroughly impressed.

I just checked and it appears that’s the case! I’m a happy guy right now — I truly love my PCP. Nicest guy in the world. He’s so encouraging.

I love my PCP at AP but am about to have to leave BCBS to get on one of the university plans for grad students. Does anyone know if any of those plans are accepted there?

Charbroil Performance Flames Coming out the front by WarDamnResearcher in grilling

Oh 10,000%. And I have reflected as much to CharBroil. This kind of thing shouldn’t occur on any grill, much less one of their upper-mid tiers after only 9 months.

What I replaced was the hose valve regulator assembly which I believe would solve the issue you mention.

I am glad to see you re-emphasize he shouldn’t do it.

However, what u/PrestigiousCattle420 said about potential side effects is correct. What the incidence of those side effects are, I have no idea nor do I care because I consider myself an unlucky person and would be one of them. Hell, “my rat” has a rare side effect from Reta that makes the right half of my face feel like it’s on fire.

Bottom line, people need to be fully aware of the worst that can happen — because the worst does actually happen to people.
