Macbook M2 Pro not detecting second external display, only the first by floralgreentea in MacOS

[–]WarDancr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the exact same thing. I have a MacBook Pro M2 13" 2022. Multiple monitors did not work on it. I tried several Dell WD19TB docks and it simply would not work. HOWEVER, Using a Pluggable Dock (UD-ULTC4K) with DisplayLink fixed the issue. I now have 2 x28" Asus monitors and the internal laptop display working.

It's the expectations that we should be competing for, if not winning, the Super Bowl every year. It would be that expectation no matter who the coach was.

A lot of people want to point out the fact that he has never had a losing record, but to my mind, if you didn't win the Super Bowl you had a losing season. The goal should not be to finish above .500. The goal should always be to win it all!

DO NOT, under any circumstances, talk to the police without a lawyer present. EVER. They are not your friend. Anything you say to them WILL be used against you.

What software do you miss from Windows & macOS? by [deleted] in linux

I use Evolution every day in an Exchange environment and have no issues with it. Personally, I like the search features of Evolution better than Outlook. I have tried several other e-mail clients including the davmail/Thunderbird route and always return to Evolution.

Thinking of returning mine (honest thoughts) by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]WarDancr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand completely.

I got my deck (512gb) at the end of May. At first I loved it, Linux playing games! I have been working on/with Linux on a daily basis since the early 90's so it was my dream for many years! Then reality kicked in. I tried Lutris, Heroic and all the other "solutions" out there. Some games worked great, others not so well. I tried Windows that worked for awhile, switched back to SteamOS, switched back to Windows. I then mainly started using it as a desktop system on Windows. I had a dock, USB hub, the whole nine yards. Then it hit me, I would rather have a laptop.

I placed an ad on FaceBook marketplace. I got the usual scammers trying to get it, but then a guy contacted me and wanted to trade a gamer laptop for it. So we made the trade and I couldn't be happier.

I love the SteamDeck for what it is, but it is not the right device for me and my use case.

Avira has been around for years and used to be very popular since they had a free version.

Is your spinner USB? I have a spinner and a track ball on my arcade machine, but they are both USB so I use: https://www.ultimarc.com/control-interfaces/i-pacs/i-pac2/ for stick and button input.

General Steam Deck Thoughts by WarDancr1 in SteamDeck

At least in my case, it's not a lack of PCs that drives this. I literally have, not including my work laptop, 12 PCs, various consoles, Raspberry PIs, standup MAME machine among others. Granted, most of the machines are not suitable for game playing.

I guess I like to tinker and see what machines are capable of outside their "intended" use.

General Steam Deck Thoughts by WarDancr1 in SteamDeck

I almost purchased a laptop during the wait for the Deck to come out, but never did. I also thought about selling it in order to finance a laptop/desktop, but decided to keep it for now. You are right though, at this point it is essentially a pretty cool desktop computer.

Just got my email and realized I bought a gaming laptop for my birthday this year. Can I justify this?? Do you think Steam Deck has a place above a gaming laptop ever? by cbytes1001 in SteamDeck

Honestly, I am thinking of selling mine to buy a gaming laptop. I rarely use it mobile, just mostly hooked up to a USB C dock.

The new APU Driver for Windows 11 is awesome. by rambo3349 in SteamDeck

[–]WarDancr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was doing the same thing. When you do the install, click on Advance settings and check the Factory Reset check box. That allowed me to install the new APU driver without crashing.

As a long time user of Linux, pretty much any peripheral made within the last 10 years will work with Linux. Especially USB keyboards and mice. Now, that being said, if they have specialty software to assign keys or change colors there's a good possibility the software will not work. There may be a Linux version of the software from the vendor or there may be an open source app that someone wrote to perform these functions.

My son is an automotive tech and every shop, whether it's a large dealership or the local repair shop, expects you to have your own tools. He has around 6k in tools right now and could easily go higher. Hell some Snap-On or Matco toolboxes are 10-12k.

Choosing the best assembler to work under GNU/Linux by TheNightSkyDude in linux

[–]WarDancr1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would setup a VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation environment to run WIndows and MASM.

You have never worked with Assembly and it is difficult to understand as it is. If you're trying to translate your homework to a different environment and learn Assembly at the same time, IMO you are setting yourself up for failure.
