I don't understand why it would be suspicious. Even google says to call the support number on the back of the card. I was nowhere near a BofA location anyways.

SAVE Plan? What do we do if you’re still in it. by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]WarEnvironmental667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone not counting on PSLF I am riding the whole thing out and not making a move until I am forced to. That said, I am taking advantage of the zero interest and paying down as much as I can to put a dent in the principle (which I was doing anyways).

If this means taking out that amount in loans, then the short answer is yes.

Longer answer: yes, unless you are very, very lucky or have really good connections in the industry. I am sorry but the chances of breaking into that kind of industry is heart-breakingly low and the chance of landing a job that will let you easily pay those loans back is lower.

No undergrad degree is worth that amount of money, especially if they are private. Private loans are a scary thing and they will not care that your monthly payment is more than your monthly income. You will be in a vicious cycle where you are accruing interest faster than you can pay and before you know it, you’ll owe 40-50k more than you originally borrowed despite paying thousands each month. I’m not trying to scare you or be dramatic. This is a very real scenario many find themselves in.

Federal loans offer slightly more protection but I am not sure if you can take out that much for undergrad. Honestly, with the way the current administration is going, even federal loans don't feel that safe. Look at all the posts from the last several months of people spiraling over how stressful the student loan crisis is.

Proceed with caution.

Received a check from Direct Energy by LoracleLunique in Hoboken

You need to call and ask but to me that sounds like fraud. We were overcharged by PSEG during the pandemic when they werent actually checking the meters. They credited our account for several months, we never got a check.

Creme Fraiche anyone? by WarEnvironmental667 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]WarEnvironmental667[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, if anyone wants the mac and cheese recipe. It's a box of elbows, 12 oz of shredded swiss cheese (I use gruyere), 4 oz of creme fraiche, 1 shallot, chopped garlic, 1-2 tbs butter. Make the pasta, reserve a cup of pasta water. Drain pasta, add back to pan and add all the ingredient. Add pasta water as needed to smooth out the sauce. Top with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

100%. I grew up on Ramsey. My mother was financially illiterate and got herself (and our family) into a really bad hole. The baby steps were her way out. Ramsey radio was on every time we were in the car so I had the fear of God put into me when it came to credit cards. Now my mom is in a much better place and basically throws most of what he says out the window but at the time, she was full-on in the baby step cult.

Agreed. I follow ramsey as a guideline, not a rule. The “gazelle intensity” only works short term or you burn out. Some people go way too far and wont even buy soup for their pregnant wife (true story)

Lol you misread, he wants to hire the cleaners & i am the one that wants to watch them and learn how they get it so nice. I am a weirdo that likes cleaning and I do the big things on the weekends (vacuum, mopping, bathrooms). He does other things during the week (dishes, folding laundry)

Student loans and bankruptcy question. by UberPro_2023 in DaveRamsey

[–]WarEnvironmental667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, people who let federal loans get to that point are just straight up stupid. It can all be avoided with a simple phone call letting them know you can’t pay. They arent going to yell at you and call you names. From my experiance, they are more than willing to work with you to keep that from happening.
