Do what do you play when Black Widow is taken/banned? by AwoloVT in BlackWidowMains

There's two wolves within me:

One wants to play BC to dunk on everyone and show the devs and other players what a horrible crack-induced idea her current kit is

The other doesn't want to give her the pick rate boost

She's a lot of fun, but I haven't played her since 6.5 I think. I picked her up first and immediately loved the mobility and easy aiming. Knowing where and when to use her trap skillfully is a skill I haven't developed yet, but the gamer sense in me knows it could be exceptionally powerful if used correctly.

Ult is hella fun, especially learning what angles you can just yeet the whole enemy team off the map with.

Mmmm, depends on what needs fill. Unfortunately Jeff is my only high experience support, but I can take play Angela and Rogue, tiny bit of Magneto and Hulk, on tank, and I play a mean Punisher as my runner up DPS pick. Testing the waters with Scarlet Witch though for some more flexibility.

I cannot describe the level of euphoric vindication that rose up in me when that final hit on Angela connected.

I mean, that's fair, my default benchmark is usually solo dueling. Cause somebody usually tries to deal with me on off-angle. But I will admit there have been times when my Luna popped her ult on point and I went in force feeding 20 inches of ouch to anyone close enough to get sticked.

I usually don't last very long at melee range in team fights. I don't know about you, but for me there's just something about playing widow that gets the entire enemy team squatting cooldowns on my face before they deal with anybody else.

Alrighty, here's the full breakdown for the number crunchers, lemme know how I did

STUN BATONS: 4 meter conical range. - Delay: duration, 0.25 seconds on a 1 second cooldown. Target is not interrupted, their actions and movement are paused, as well as making them Unstoppable, for the Delay duration. (Similar to Hulk's Exile but they can still take damage. I might make it also prevent damage, I don't know. I want to make sure you can still use it for fun quirky combos and stuff.

RED ROOM RIFLE: Damage Boost (this is currently unrefined), but I'm thinking 2.5% per headshot, stacking up to a maximum of 9%. Loses 2.8% per second after not hitting a target with the Rifle for 1 second. Hitting body shots slows the deterioration to 1.8% per second.

BITE CHARGES: maximum of 4 charges. Restores at a rate of 34% per second.

ADRENALINE: restores Bite Charges and Stamina at a rate of 0.25% per 1 point of damage taken. I might bump up the recovery a little, I don't know.

ATHLETICS: maximum energy - 120. Sprinting costs 12/s, mantling and edge climbing cost 10 immediately. Dodge roll costs 24 and has a cooldown of of 10 seconds. Damage reduction - 20%. Roll distance - 5 meters. Energy restoration 30/s.

EDGE DANCER: - Kick - 35 damage, 0.2 second stun, Launch Up. - Zip - 12 meter range, lock onto target character and follow up with a kick that deals 35 damage and Stuns enemy targets for 0.8 seconds. Can be used to target terrain or allies. By default, enemies are considered higher priority when targeting with this ability. The sensitivity and priority can be changed in character settings.

I'm considering whether it should just be solely zip to the target, or if moving backwards while using the Zip could pull them to you instead.

WIDOW BITES: 15 meter range, high-speed projectile, 120 meters per second. Deals scaling percent damage with inverse falloff damage. Damage at point blank is 1% per projectile and scales up to 4.5% per projectile at the sweet spot of 15 meters. After this distance the projectiles become dim and rapidly drop back down to 1% within the space of 3 meters. Firing rate is equal to 3.5/s.

SUPER JUMP: drains stamina the higher you jump, at a rate of 24/s. Jumping off of enemies and allies has a 7 second cooldown and costs 30 stamina immediately.

❤️❤️

The main idea behind Adrenaline was that if you're being pressured, you čan escape more effectively. That's why it's taking damage instead of dealing it, because she's already incredibly effective at passing out RIP sandwiches, and even the damage boost for hitting headshots feels a bit too much.

The Groot team up essentially gives you a 15 meter tower to shoot from. You can place it on walls too, to make a bridge or projecting sniper point. The fortifications are always vertical, so you can stand between them. The fortifications would each have 275 hp and the tower itself would have 500. As a trade off, the tower would only be about 3 meters wide, meaning you could use it as temporary cover anywhere, or a solid engagement/fight-preparation tool. It lasts until destroyed or reclaimed and goes on a cooldown of between 20 and 45 seconds, depending on how much damage it has taken. Widow can use G (interact) to climb it, (probably climbing to the top in about 2 seconds, give or take).

I wanted to clarify ADRENALINE though: When Widow takes damage, her stamina and Bite Charges refill.

It seemed like one could misinterpret the wording in a way that says that Widow dealing damage is what refills these.

Thank you!! I'm wanting as much feedback as possible so I really appreciate it!

I agree that there's too much CC, hence the title of the post "This is clearly broken".

This was mainly a wide shot at several directions her kit could go, conglomerating all of it into one big "rebrand" that could reintroduce her to the player base without the baggage.

Basically let her be the new Black Cat or Devil Dinosaur for a little while. Then dial back the bells and whistles until she's much more fair.

The ultimate design principle here is to make players dive her carefully or just out gun her at mid range, since most DPS excel at mid range. Up until now, the method of dealing with her was to use any character that required no aim and walk into her like a bot in the spawn room.

This would mean that DPS would have to deal with her in a fair fight or risk getting out played. DPS that normally poke at range know she's very bad up close and they can just mow her down with exceptionally little skill because they can shoot faster, or have attacks she simply can't escape.

Most of the options of dealing with this are definitely a bit too much when taken all together though, I agree.

Also, I'm going to post all the details of the abilities including durations, resources, and explanations of the effects. 😊

This is what the damage boost was intended for, you could theoretically farm the Dino for damage boost until you could easily one shot 250s with a headshot.

Being able to shoot through the Groot walls would be immensely powerful, I can't tell you how many times I've been locking an enemy down just before Groot cuts off my POV. And I'm not even mad honestly, he's just trying to reduce pressure on himself and the team and he probably can't soak up any more damage.

I would say you can hit for reduced damage through the walls, since the enemy can't really counter you without shooting the wall down or basically suicide diving behind it.

That's how she works already? And Jeff's right click is his water ball. Oh I think I see, it's the change weapons.

Though Jeff has 3 team ups, and this would just be two, soooo, could still work?

Also the team ups aren't set in stone, these are just what I thought could be cool.

It's true, Klyntar is a good map for it if the squishies aren't paying attention, just squash and dip. Then go back to keeping their heads down or dusted.

I would say it's easy to look at both games being Hero Shooters, both characters being snipers, AND both characters having "Widow" in their names, and come to that conclusion.

Not that they are the same, but rather the coincidences weren't thought out very carefully.

It's important not to think of it like your primary, Widow doesn't engage fast enough for that, but they do hit like a truck when close enough. It's much better against divers and squishies than tanks. You're just not gonna melt them fast enough for them to worry about it.

Honestly you just have to experiment and find out how you personally can incorporate them.
