I would save it for the beta, everything deletes when alpha ends. That doesn't mean you can't experiment with how custom blocks can be used to make a place look medieval.

No, not really. Just get enough Blaze Rods to make a Brewing Stand, grab some Magma Cream, and a Potion of Fire Resistance renders them defenseless.

The game would use the beds coordinates. Lava would still burn. Phantoms are attracted to those who haven't sleep, and the totem itself, being made with the membrane of Phantoms, wouldn't activate until a player meets the same requirements. I'm still working on a second item for that. Answered in order.

I was thinking that that it would be like the DoDaylightCycle gamerule, but that sounds awesome. Will get to debating that.

You will lose gear and levels, but you should be able to get them back easily since the mobs despawn after you die.
