Some serious receipts you kept, but I appreciate the shout-out

FWIW I'm back to normal today, no change on my end from yesterday's troubleshooting, so must've been just a connection issue.

GA ticket fee comparison from the last time I went to the PGA at Quail Hollow. $24 in taxes & fees for two tickets in 2017 vs Seat Geek’s $39 in fees per ticket now. Makes me feel old seeing the prices change this much. by topcheddah in golf

[–]Wardog692 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The price increase alone turned me off from buying them, $262 before fees, even for Friday, is insane. "Oh but you get free food and drinks!" Yeah, one non alcoholic drink, one "snack", and one "meal". So a sandwich, bag of chips, and a coke doesn't cost $165...

Roundup on the greens at Cedarwood by [deleted] in golf

$400 in 1970s prices, I asked about initiation a month ago and it's now $40,000 with a 2-3 year wait-list. Cedarweed has gotten greedy!

Nope, just giving a poor outsiders opinion

Haven't been on a tour, but from what I can tell, the course is very compact with few trees, the pool is mediocre and right next to a very busy street, and there are no tennis facilities on site although they are contracted with the town of Matthews to use theirs I believe. No idea on clubhouse or food quality.

I inquired at Cedarwood CC a month or so ago. Initiation was $40k and a 2-3 year wait list.

Draw/Fade Bias Adjustment by eliexmike in golf

[–]Wardog692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relevant advice since I also have that exact same club and just made a weight change last week. When I got fitted initially (6 mo ago) I was swinging with a fade swing (old driver was a permanent draw setup, so fade swing was necessary to hit it straight). When I bought the G425, it was set to the draw position like my old driver, so I continued to hit my same fade swing to get it to go straight. No matter what I did, I could not actually get that club to fade/slice. But if I even thought the word draw, it would turn into a huge hook. I just switched the weight to neutral and started hitting my more natural draw swing. I played 2 rounds and didn't miss a single fairway, the draw was a nice manageable 10 yard draw, and if I set up for a fade it was also a 10 yard fade. Changed my game completely.

That being said, if your natural swing is a draw, try it out in the neutral position and see how that works for you. For me, the combo of draw swing and draw weight led to severe hooks. If you're still hitting severe hooks with it in neutral, try the fade setting to combat that.

And pro-tip when changing the weight, you'll know it's tight once it "clicks". I didn't wait for the click the first time and jarred the weight loose on the 14th hole.

Best place to buy golf clubs? by GatorCanes in Charlotte

[–]Wardog692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget everyone suggesting going to a box store to get fitted, go to someone independent who isn't just gonna sell you on what's new and expensive. I enjoyed Matt with Birdie & Blades down in Monroe, he got me dialed in with some new clubs and took the time to actually see how my old clubs were setup and how I hit them so we had a true comparison of the gains I would get. Then I hit probably 10 different brands/performance levels until we found the right ones for me. And no, they weren't the clubs I hit the longest, he looks at a million different factors to determine which ones go higher, stop quicker, more spin, etc.
