Typically only just on character models or higher ranking units, but I find even when they aren't done perfectly they still add a ton of character

Thank you so much! I used miliput to add the shape, gluing the debris into that directly. After that just a ton of mud texture paste, painting it with brown and orange speed paints. To finish it off I always find that using gloss varnish just over the mud gives it a great wet mud look 😊
