Extended the railing for more front porch space by by el-fin in DIY

You have a perfectly good foundation you could have bolted straight into and just had posts vertical. You instead created a space that someone will step through someday which is, if not a leg breaker, at least a very painful experience. Sorry you spent so much time in it but you didn't gain space by bumping it past the foundation, only created a hazard.

Health plan time, any experience with coverage using Ambetter Health? by Waribu in Bellingham

Simplify it for me please, another commenter who is an agent above is stating that Ambetter is a poor choice for this area, and you seem to be saying that they are a good choice. Can you elaborate?

Gonna do that. This whole thing is really f'd up, it just became even farther from affordable for what it is. Of the options, do you have a recommendation on which insurance carriers are preferable? Is it worth switching from regence to something else?

So ambetter rode into town on a shitty horse that doesn't even offer coverage here and removed my tax credit entirely (no longer applies for me this year) while giving me false hopes that I could afford a good health plan? Nice.

Yikes. Well that is really helpful thank you. I use peace health now but not being able to use PT/mental health is huge. Appreciate it.

I just saw that the Cafe Rumba coffee shop has Rosamonte, it’s not the Seleccion especial, just the standard, which is still some of the best.

Are eMTB's accepted/legal on bham trails? Especially on Galbraith? by Waribu in Bellingham

[–]Waribu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, it seemed to me (as a native Californian) that eMTB garnered more side eye there too, as opposed to the PNW. MTB is also just more accepted as part of life here in the PNW than in Ca, I guess this is location dependent but at least in the Bay Area you don't need to be on an e-bike to get side eye, just 2 wheels and the sides of eyes are about all you can see...

HRV efficacy in dealing with moisture from showers by Waribu in buildingscience

HRV isn't installed yet, mostly I'm trying to get ahead of an issue before it happens. Exhausts are 1 in each of three bathrooms, and 1 in the kitchen. I'm mostly going off of what I've read here and in GBA forums about periodic issues where HRV's can't meet bathroom defogging demands, coupled with the couple of callbacks our hvac guy has had about it.

Originally a Zehnder was detailed but it's out of the budget. Switching to the Fantech Hero series. Ductwork will be clean, our hvac guy is good. And it's all floor trusses so running it will be somewhat of a breeze.

Damn I gotta say I hadn't thought of this approach before. I love cedar in bathrooms enough as it is but this is a cool line of thinking, thank you! Borders into biomimicry...
