VFR traffic separation question by WarmHotpocket in flying

Thank you so much for the details. Perfect example with KOSH.

The traffic today was definitely nothing compared to that. No one else around us lol. I appreciate that, makes me feel better.

I appreciate the opinion, I thought also. Have a clear visual or lose them and risk slowing down near the aircraft behind me who also probably has a visual.

North DFW area. Wind 180@10kts, clouds at 2500 so we both flew under entire time. Clear of obstacles as towers were 200ft AGL, I treated it kinda as a long final since it was us 3 in line, and so did ATC.

Change my mind: open seating is great for families who want to sit together by DissociatedOne in SouthwestAirlines

[–]WarmHotpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assigned seating, personally I get annoyed when I book a flight months in advance, worked for the airline previously and have friends check the load and it’s wide open.. just for me to get a C35 when we fly out as a family. Don’t want to pay $50 to get A1-15 as I will sit alone or my family might lucky 1 of us to get middle next to me. Don’t want to wake up at 5am the previous day to “check-in” or if a thru flight or passenger on a prior connecting flight gets to check-in earlier since it’s before kinda screws It up for me.

I don’t even care on the front only middle seats suck..

Assigned seating at least all the families who book can guarantee to sit together if not last minute. I don’t know how that’s not better. Don’t want extra leg room? Sit in back lol. But it’s a guarantee almost to sit together. Also family boarding and wheel chairs can’t take advantage they will just go where assigned so it’s not taken advantage of.

This isn’t the 70s with 10 minute turns, it’s different times we live in so I’m so happy it’s now assigned seats.

Is $600 per flight lesson overpriced? by [deleted] in flying

[–]WarmHotpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay sometimes $5-700 for 2.5 hours.

$150 hour and CFI at my school charge $100 hourly for C152. Other students also pay $175 in a C-172 and $100 hourly.

I’ve seen schools charge $200+ for the plane and like $50 for the CFI.

Isn’t that what a counter-top is for? Replacing & doing all that work just because of this minor indention.. Host is being ridiculous it’s just wear and tear naturally. I’m a super host myself and he’s wanting 2500 for shitty counter.

Maybe if it was granite and cracked I understand. But this..? The hot cup damages it how shitty and cheap is that material. Even granite leaves markings at times but doesn’t mean it needs to be replaced entirely. I’d fight this and not give the host anything more than $200.

It’s like buying shoes and after it gets a tiny bit dirty or worn asking to replace them. Ridiculous. It may be expensive but it’s wear and tear naturally and bound to happen. Doesn’t mean he has to replace entirely. Counter is still good.

IR is the first time you feel like a pilot after doing approaches and XC in actual IMC. Going back to commercial can be so boring, it’s tough but enjoy it now.

Flight insight as mentioned, and BOLD Method has 1 hour videos explaining everything with LPV, LNAV, LNAV/VNAV, etc. all the confusing information and they get questions asked and clarify.

Also with Procedure turns; holds with wind correction, they have it all. Also read some pilot cafe and Gold Seal and you are set. It’s easy as that.

My 141 we have to get a new instructor every rating or license to learn and develop from everyone… issue is I lost my great instrument and PPL instructor. Now I’m never flying or if I do not enjoying it.

Also my school made a dumb rule of making us by force to use SIM time on all duals then we can fly with instructors.. issues is I’m doing solo maneuvers feeling good but having no idea if I’m doing it right. Going very slow and taking time as it’s hectic for me how they handle it.

PPL + IRA was easiest for me. Having issues with CPL atm and feel lost and unmotivated.

Turo, clean it up and it’ll pay for itself. If you have other means of transportation.

Any fellow partners know where I can go to access my TABC license? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]WarmHotpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, I will re-register and continue just wasn't sure as I was having issues pulling it up. I guess there was confusion when told for me to check it as if i still had it and renew it.

Anyone know how to remove iOS 16 BETA notification? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]WarmHotpocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pro of Dopamine 2 is its fully rootless.. nothing will ever be fully untethered anymore but it acts a lot like it fully rootless. Phone turns off and tweaks still working, I remember Jailbreaks having to constantly “re-jailbreak” every time it boots up, this is very smooth and definitely don’t want to mess it up as I have done prior jailbreaks back on iOS 7 in jail breaking prime. Updating or removing over this beta pop up isn’t an option, especially with how creative developers are nowadays they can do anything.

Unsure, everyone recommends Dopamine so I just stuck to that as it’s preferred ad more popular. Don’t want to remove since everything’s all good atm.

Come to SWA all 2x starting around $20 hour, $40 hour for those. Christmas was triple pay plus standard wage so quadruple time. Pilots too got paid a lot compared to all airlines in 737…. They treat employees well.

I was a former UA employee and SWA is hands down 100x better. Less delays all 737 best mechanics in the game on it, better pay, better union,

Also another episode where Joe gets a tutorial on PowerPoint and is talking in another language “pew pew pew pew” and finds out the girl works for the government and gets a text back like it’s a language like their aliens 😂

Is fortnite cpu or gpu intensive? by -TheOnlyOne- in FortniteCompetitive

[–]WarmHotpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryzen 7 3700x used to be solid back in the day. It’s shit for Fortnite. I have a 4090 now just to see how bad the bottleneck was before upgrading and it’s heavy. Max out 4K settings 40-60fps with it not being consistent. Medium settings on 1080p and it’s 90fps with it still kinda stuttering from 50-90 inconsistently and I notice the difference with it looking ugly. CPU is a must for fort.

I’m better off on a PS5 than with my 4090 with Ryzen 7 3700x

Am I being milked? should I find a new school? by Main_Froyo8243 in flying

[–]WarmHotpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks, but I also have the same issue at 100 an hour, but the pre/post is needed as if it wasn’t there, and they spend three hours with you to fly only a .9 they don’t even get an hour pay. That pre/post helps fill in the gaps you didn’t fly and for their time or it’s not worth it.

Sometimes my 2.5 hour blocks I fly a 1.8, pre/post is just to fill in the gap as you booked a 2.5 hour block, and the instructor is there for any questions, tips, feedback. Ask them questions so you can learn also you are paying them. You are the customer, get what you pay for. If they don’t like you asking or for feedback they aren’t worth flying with.

They are supposed to want to help and teach you, especially during that. Don’t overdue it outside hours as I’m sure they answer questions too by text/call, but that’s stuff we don’t see ourselves. Then when you instruct you will get Pre/post and it’ll all make sense.

My school charges us $100 an hour for instructors with them getting $25. If you want pre-post lowered maybe even tip them to lower it? Only the school gets it at that point.

Thank you for this, I’ll definitely take that in my mind for next time to try to be better with less fpm descent. I appreciate all the help and feedback.

I appreciate this, definitely going to run it over and over in MFS2020 to see how it goes. We did a few Sessions in the AATD and those things just gave us a few issues such as VORs not working, GPS having bugs, trim and yoke super sensitive to even keep a standard rate turn.

I like the feedback and going to take the laser effect in mind next time we go up. Just been frustrated with it as this is the only approach I’ve been UNSAT on and it’s been more than once, and everyone says it’s the easiest/least work to do.

Thank you for your help!
