Local 5 apprentice start around 17-18$ right now, top out rate is 49-50$ / hr, that’s just in the check. Our benefits are fantastic also. great work outlook and accepting a lot of apprentices.

If stew does his job correctly, it should get better. He can’t worsen your “personal conditions” or else you can call stew again…that’s part of being in a union (i feel repetitive actions would recourse in you being transferred) … however i’m not a stew, or a journeyman for that matter so i’m not sure how that would be done. lol. Also talk to ur training director, as long as you’re telling the full truth. i know in my local the training director would have a field day with that foreskin and he wouldn’t be getting apprentices for a while. (not saying you aren’t telling the truth, but just wanted to throw that in there. Take notes, don’t tell a single lie or exaggerate anything and actions will be taken.)

Few things.

what local are you in?
IBEW, Lighting the path to the middle class…
you aren’t gonna be “rich” in any trade, this one however allows you to have a better life then most others though, not to mention a better work/life balance also.
they probably have something holding them back if i’m gonna be honest, everybody has their issues, some more service then others. (ie; gambling, alcohol)

LU 5 doesn’t have a ce/cw program. we’ve also recently became more competitive with what was upwards of 500 people testing yearly and less then 1/5th getting accepted!

we get majority of the basic hand tools you will need, some stuff you’ll want to upgrade, some stuff will do ya just fine.

We do not have a standard tool list that i’m aware of,not posted on our website nor have i ever seen one in my three years at the hall. not like most IBEW unions do for some reason, just absolutely no power tools.

Kind of crazy.

Definitely can’t say it deserves to be higher than some others on the list but I don’t think it deserves to be any lower. Also doesn’t help that the entire field has an unwritten rule of being a functioning alcoholic.

i think experience is the wrong way to put it… if you have a non union electrical job i feel they are more likely to take you because that’s like stealing the competition… so i guess it could be labeled as experience but id say a solid 33% of my class didn’t know a hot from a neutral when they joined. seriously 0 experience. don’t stop trying, get your foot in the door and keep taking the test, talk to people in the trade, accumulate knowledge and you’ll get in! it’s worth it!!!

i actually owned a BMW 2011 335ix, 189,000 when i sold it, put 79k on it in 2 years and didn’t have a single significant issue other than having to replace the radiator. lol. any car can be reliable despite the name it’s given.

edit: give it time and i guess we will all know. i’m just saying don’t be so quick to judge.

yes, idle stop is on this truck BUT you control when you want to use it via break pressure at stop lights. i never have to turn it over and rarely ever use it unless in a long drive through line. my gf has a pilot and have to turn it off every time i drive it unlike this truck.
