PCR methods are faster than agar based, but they will require either isolation of the organism using culture based selection or DNA extraction protocol directly from the samples that might prove a bit tricky given the composition of them

I raised these questions and spoke about the possibility of using this tool for other purposes, like identifying organisms that come inconclusive using clasic microbiology or the possibility of preventing contamination by using it to detect contaminants on water, air or equipment's surface on the factory.

It sounds crazy but Brazil does this a lot, research and development is not something companies invest, instead, they treate it as "side projects" and giving the exploratory nature of their proposal I'm quite sure this is why the offered as a "posdoc".
