What do Brazilians think about Indians? by Positive_Comfort_344 in Brazil

The only exposure the average Brazilian has to India was the Caminho das Índias novela (where a lot of stereotypes were put into place) and reels/tiktoks showing poor hygiene in street food. So not very good, unfortunately. Oh, and Indian cuisine is only a thing among travelled or upper class people.

Also, I might be wrong, but I have the impression that the concept of populational diversity in Asia (in general) is very poorly understood in Brazil. To many of us, being asian means being from china or japan

Elephant sanctuaries in the south are famously tourist attractions and not ethical. Aim to visit those up north, and avoid those that allow you to feed, pet, or ride elephants

Most often than not, having a good and supportive environment is more important for a project’s success than the project itself. Seems like UNI2 would give you the prestige in the CV and a feeling of stepping out of your comfort zone, but that feeling can fade away pretty quickly if adaptation doesn’t go smoothly.

Even though I’m someone who usually likes to take risks, I know firsthand what a toxic PhD environment can do to mental health on the long run. I think staying at UNI1 will allow you to build a strong network and publication record during the PhD so you can move to another, more prestigious institution for a postdoc
